A Portrait of Battle Scars

Tyrannosaurus rex. An acrylic painting I did of Helushka, the battle scarred male Tyrannosaurus.

I wanted to try a looser version of my earlier Tyrannosaurus Gape: 2020 painting, with no stenciling of frisket film for the airbrush component of the painting. During the penciling stage, I saw the released renders of the upcoming Beats of the Mesozoic Tyrannosaurus figure. I quite liked the wattle like structures around the throat, so I decided to add it to my male Tyrannosaurus, in addition to the feather crest.

Besides the scars, he has a pair of porcupine-like quills from a Leptoceratops (which I will depict soon) and a young Edmontosaurus hand stuck in between Helushhkas teeth. I wanted to give his mouth a putrid feel. Imagine the stank in there.

Completed in September 2020.
