According to google you technically can make a sword out of diamond, but it would be extremely brittle and most likely shatter on impact if you attempted to use it. Hence the reason more malleable materials like iron and steel are usually the go-to for sword making.

On a different note, I have been playing a ton of Minecraft lately. I picked it up last year and played it for a hot second, then stopped for a while, then I downloaded some mods and I'm right back into playing it again. The game gives my brain some sweet, sweet dopamine and who am I to deny it.

I wanted to do a little homage to the game and draw my favorite weapon in it, the diamond sword. It's my favorite color and I love, love rendering shiny and sparkly things. I thought about giving it a leather pommel at first, and then I thought it would look cooler if I made it look like it was forged entirely out of diamond, hence the final result you see here~
