Did you know:

&The Bald Eagle is of course, not actually bald, but its name derives from an older meaning, namely white headed.

&Both sexes are similar in plumage though immature birds are brown  but the females are larger than the males.

&In the late 20^th century, the Bald Eagle was on the brink of extirpation (extinct in its chosen geographic area, but still existing elsewhere) but has recovered in a matter of 12 years, from Endangered, to Threatened, and since 2007 has been removed from the endangered and threatened list in most states.
