For those who don't know, Alt Colors are pictures that have been already drawn/colored by someone else and I make my own color version of it. Normally I would do this because I am very impressed by someones work and I wanted to make my own colored version as I really like the picture in question and that it would be a good way to showcase the talent of the person in question...this picture is the COMPLETE opposite of that but I'll go into more details on that later
Right now let's introduce the characters and scenario as if you remember a long time ago I've colored a Sonic the Hedgehog OC called Noah the Hedgehog, a detective spy that can use
Psychokinesis along with other gadgets and stuff. Well this picture features him (right) as this is the first time I've get to color him in a very long time. This time we see his teammates are with him as we got Scion the Cat (bottom) as well as Ally the Cat (top) as they dive underwater. This isn't for a mission or anything but more of a casual diving trip with some training a bit here and there. Noah and Scion wear the usual diving masks that they normally wear but Ally wanted to try something different and one trip through the diving shop she spots the LAMA Bubble Helmet and she would think it would be cute to wear this during her trip...Ally and I think alike it seems ^^ So they all gear up and dive underwater and have a good time. The LAMA gear is a bit at times for Ally but she gets used to it very easily allowing her full expression to be view with the 360 degree view of the underwater world. Everything was going well until the group spot a cave and all them decide to enter it to see what they can find...until Ally realized that unlike the masks that Noah and Scion are wearing which have night vision equipped, Ally's LAMA gear doesn't have any light source. She tries to talk them convincing them to do something else but Noah and Scion really wanted to see what's in the case and they even pulled the you wait there then which isn't a good ideea to be alone in the ocean so against her will Ally agrees to go with them as they enter the cave. At least Noah will help her by guiding her through the cave at least even though that there will be a lot of bumps ahead as Ally as much as she really like the gear she's wearing and will continue to wear it in the future that next time, put some headlights on the top weight
So I've mentioned before, usually when I do an alt color like this I do them because I really like it and wanted to showcase the person in general. I mean don't get me wrong, this is a neat idea. A bit different, a bit comical but it's not really one that that I would go out of my way to make my own color version for free. And no Ally in LAMA gear is NOT the reason why I wanted to color this...I mean granted it's been a while since I've colored a Sonic style character in LAMA gear but that's besides the point. If I have to give out my reason of why I spend two days in a couple hours to color this as well as I can and trying to be as nice as possible with my answer...It would have to be my pride as a color artist
I'm not exactly good with a lot of stuff, but over time I have gotten a lot better at coloring pictures and the reason being is that sure a lot of people have their own artstyle and coloring style and what they can come up with is very impressive. However I'm actually more impressed with art that tries it's best to be like a screenshot of a show or anime. That kind of gave me an idea when I gotten my first line art from Shoxxe thinking like, hey, maybe I can color it to be as close to the anime that I love as I can. So that's when I actually try to color the picture myself. The results...took a month because I colored it on MSPaint...those were different times but the fact that I was able to get it pretty close is something that I'm pretty proud off and I wanted to do more. And over the course of time with some programs and some help, not only can I make the the picture (depending on how close the line art is to the artstyle from the original) colors as close to the source as I can but I can do it quickly as well.
But I'm not just someone that just puts some colors on a picture and call it a day, I do take the extra time to make sure that I get the coloring right to match the show while making the picture stand out. All line arts deserved to be beautiful and they deserve to stand out, to make the picture full of life and color when a line artist does his best to draw the picture out. It's my job to finish what they started, to continue the line artist legacy and give the picture that not only do you guys deserve but the picture as well.
This picture isn't something that I didn't want to do an alt color of, but it felt like that I didn't have a choice for my pride as a color artist. I'm just glad that in the end of the day, I am glad to color this, I'm happy with how it came out and most importantly I hope that you guys like it
