After nearly 4 years of using Daz Studio, thousands of dollars spent, lots of time invested in learning how to use and actually using the product, elevated blood pressure levels due to frustration of Daz either crashing or freezing, and tons of complaining/editorializing/making excuses for the oft grainy renders that I would produce...I FINALLY HAVE BOUGHT A NEW COMPUTER THAT IS CAPABLE OF HANDLING DAZ STUDIO 3D!!!!!! I call it...Rendersaurus-Rex!!! Rawr!!!
I went with a PowerSpec gaming desktop; PowerSpec is the house brand of Micro Center, which is a relatively small chain of computer/electronics store. While it's a "no-name", the machine itself has some firepower in the form of internal components that are name brands. The processor is an AMD Ryzen 7, which is one of the best processors on the market at the moment from what I understand. I've got a NVIDIA RTX 2070 video card, WHICH IS A GAME-CHANGER and...for those of you that aren't familiar with Daz and the world of 3D rendering...is absolutely necessary for quality renders. The CPU came with 16GBs of RAM, plus I bought and had an extra 16 installed...giving me 32 gigs of RAM total; also necessary for quality rendering. It has a 1 TB SSD with lots of space; I also got a 4 TB External HD b/c Daz is infamous for munching up lots of memory! And I also have a badass high-res Asus monitor, which is the cherry on top! And the beauty of having a desktop verses a laptop is that I can upgrade parts when/if needed; I've only had my old laptop for maybe 4 or 5 years and it's already starting to crap out on me!
It was rather frustrating trying to get all of my Daz files and such from my old laptop to the new computer...it literally took me 4 days due to confusion and OneDrive doing some funky stuff with my files. BUT...I finally got everything sorted out (I think) and was able to see what this puppy is capable of. So, I did this simple render of Nikki as a test...guess how long it took???
15 MUTHA LOVIN' MINUTES!!!!

" title="Wow!" />

What I used to do was set my renders up before work (when I was still physically going into the office) and/or bed and let them go for several hours at a time...and depending on the complexity of the scene, I would usually get an okay render with a moderate to lots of graininess. My poor little laptop would work as hard as it could to crank out the work that I've been producing for the past few years. And forget about trying to use the Iray preview function to give me an idea of what the render would look like before I actually hit the "render" button; freeze and crash city!!!

But now...Rendersaurus-Rex is here and will hopefully help me get to the next level of being a decent to good 3D artist and creator.
I posed Nikki in a triumphant pose in celebration of Rendersaurus-Rex AND I wasn't sure of how the quality of the render would turn out with just 15 minutes. Suffice to say that my pose is very fitting!!!
