The original Zero Punctuation person model only has 14 texture material files for the face but unfortunately I still can't figure out how to decompile-recompile models to add more for the bodygroups. So I narrowed the choices for my reskinned OC to these selections shown. Note that the auras don't have to match the expression every time.

To have me shown more properly in gmod, I wanted to add my real-life primary facial feature; the dark circles under my eyes. Sure, many people have those due to lack of sleep, staring at screens or whatever, but I consider them to be part of my characteristics in both reality AND fiction.

Sorry if some of you can't make out some of these blurry images; I had to resort using the online PowerPoint version, but I'll upload this to the gmod Workshop for you to get a better look see for yourselves anyway.

Great Independence Day, Finland!

The local tradition is to watch the movie Tuntematon sotilas (The Unknown Soldier) on this day. Many appreciate the old film even though there are a couple of newer adaptations - and of course there's the original source, the book by Vдinц Linna.
Despite the story being about the war, the story tries to teach a lesson to the younger generations and press that the horrors of the war should never happen again.

As you may guess, every year there's the same debate about this story: the critical views claim the stories about the war(s) should be put aside and we should forget the violence and war heroes and move on, and the other side states that even this ugly part of history is part of the cultural roots and can serve its purpose as a dark reminder in order to appreciate all life now and yet to come.

Today the country is very different from what it used to be back in 1945 and many things have become better. That doesn't mean all fighting is completely over. The pandemic has claimed lives and taken a lot out of certain people who work in the health care system. I wanted to honor their efforts and did a counterpart for this www.wsoy.fi/kirja/vaino-linna/… . It's the original cover of Linna's book, designed by Heikki Marila and Martti Mykkдnen, and all Finns (SHOULD) recognize it due to the status the book has in the national classics and the way how it's taught in the school system.



I have a little word play going on with the cover.

Turvavдlitд = safe care / remember safety and care <- This is hard to translate because it consists of two words that are fused together: turvavдli = safe distance and vдlitд = to care (also in some cases "to love, to cherish"). So it's like "Cherish the safe distance" or something.

In 2006 I wrote my own take on Pierre Boulle's Planet of The Apes, set on an alien planet with (spoilers!) uplifted Earth apes living on it. The planet also needed native organisms, which ranged with vaguely vertebrate like marine filter-feeders to various non-vertebrate land animaloids, largest of which on land was this radially symmetrical Galapagos tortoise sized herbivore.

In September 2020 I decided to start a new monthly drawing challenge and launched #Spectember, a free-for-all month of speculative evolution creations. This is one of the many works that resulted.
