The heart of the DeviantArt experience is based on viewing and interacting with the art and activity from the deviants and groups you watch. Today, were providing an early preview into Watch 2.0 where weve taken the activities deviants do most and built an experience geared toward exactly those actions.
This is a Killer Tentacle Octopus sculpted Tentacle Crown based on my painting The Dream Melt that I've hand-painted. ^_^ Very few hand-painted crowns could be made, and this one will go on my store.camilladerrico.com November 27th!
This was a random idea I doodled last night, but then I thought- "hey, i don't actually care much about boom to exert this amount of effort"
so then i stopped and here we are.
---
Anyway, some elaboration of the idea, this was meant to be the full image above. Basically this Tikal aims to expand more on the rebellious MAIA drone from Rise of Lyric. Not entirely sure what the final idea was, whether Tikal became MAIA in the past, Tikal is a spirit possessing this particular MAIA, or Tikal is just the artificial manifestation of MAIA. Either way, it doesn't matter!!
Papercraft commission for busyoldfool of Kantarou and Haruka from Tactics! I'm happy with how it came out, but I'm reeeeeally especially proud of Haruka's wings. Animals (or animal features) are pretty hard for me to make, for some reason, so I knew that these were going to be a challenge. But they came out nicely! I'm so pleased!
Support the Kickstarter for this awesome online cat-themed TCG HERE!
I've been working for the past couple months on creating cards for this game that's in development, created by Frostbolt, an indie game company. I'll be releasing the cards bit by bit to help these guys out in reaching their goal! I'm not directly involved in the Kickstarter (I'm not being paid to advertise) however I'd love to keep working for this project as I think it looks like a really fun game! Go check it out!

Last week I was able to visit a greenhouse with my aqueous media class. Here is something I drew based off of vegetation from that experience I used Winsor & Newton Watercolor and Gouache as well as colored pencil.
(done during the night of the events, I was very sad and scared because the shootings took place some minutes away from my home and I even planned to go party in a cafй/pub in this aera this night. For people who send my pms and were worry.. all is ok.) I have no words, I don't even have enough strength to talk about this. So I doodled this. It took me some time, I had trouble to draw correctly but.. the purpose was not to make a pretty picture. Good night Paris, my town... see you tomorrow.
Thanks for the support all over the world. We truely appreciate it. Rip to my fellow Parisians people... and people whole over the world.

The Forest Wisp. Ostrich feathers, ferns, silk bodice and sleeves, hand sculpted twigs and thorns and a little fur to keep you warm on those cold Halloween nights. I individually dyed 200+ Ostrich feathers to make skirt look like a 'forest floor' with different shades of green and brown. I added in ferns (with a little sprinkle of glitter) to subtly mix some leaves in with the feathers. Email me for custom requests on fairytas.info@gmail.com
My square for the charity quilt this year! (It really is a square, but I left it in my hoop for photo purposes and cropped it!)
In case you didn't know, around the fandom every year artists volunteer to make a square for a quilt to be auctioned off for charity. WhiteHeather has done it in year's past and it's been auctioned off at BronyCon and Everfree NorthWest, but this year it's being organized by Jillah92 and making the big jump over the pond to GalaCon in Germany!
Previous Quilts:
On the technical side: This piece is made with 10 different quilting cottons, and machine appliqued. I digitized the entire file myself, including the lettering (because I'm too cheap to buy the lettering software, lol). The cottons were washed and dried, ironed, fused with lightweight stabilizer, and then hooped with no-show embroidery interfacing underneath. Threads used are all Sulky Rayon thread.
On the inspiration side: I feel honored to be able to take part in it this time around, and very privileged to have gotten the episode I requested--Family Appreciation Day. This episode holds very special meaning to me, especially with the passing earlier this year of my elderly aunt who was more a mother to me than I've ever had. While the zap apple is the most recognizable icon of the episode, I wanted to imbue the deeper meaning of the episode into my square. So I chose words for each stripe and color on the zap apple that really embody what should be at the heart of relationships we have with our loved ones, and especially our elders. The words can go both ways, but each of these should be taken into consideration of how you treat your loved ones.
Cherish them dearly, remember them fondly, and never let them leave your heart.
In loving memory of Garnette Earnestine Mitchell 1930-2015
