In the past my solution for same-sex couples reproducing was to temporarily magically modify one partner's sex for baby-making purposes. I've come to dislike this and would probably eliminate/retcon it entirely, if it weren't already so ingrained in the Pandoraverse. SO. No magic sex changes this time. So how did Mud and Quib go about having their son?

MLP establishes that all that's needed to create whole ass sapient autonomous clones is a dip in a magical mirror pool. I think ponies, learning of this, would start fiddling with magic, especially how it pertains to genetics and cloning. After years of research and never-ending legislation, one university research lab is approved for a colossal genetic undertaking. This experiment will seek to fuse the magical essence of two ponies, creating a viable hybrid offspring.

Mud happened to be a professor of dendrology (study of wooded plants) at the university, and hey, every research trial needs volunteers. Quibble and Mud went into this not expecting much, but hoping to provide valuable insight for the scientific world.

Except oh hey, the experiment worked. Twaddles was one of several other babies engineered through the research lab. As the science was still in it's infancy, some of the children of "Generation 01" tended to have flaws in their physical composition. Twaddles, for example, is severely visually impaired (legally blind), and cannot see things much further away than his own nose. Corrective lenses and visual aids help him function somewhat, but the world is extraordinarily blurry to Twaddles. Twaddles was also born undersized, with some respiratory issues.....as an adult he is an asthmatic and prone to illness. He and Cloudburst were often grouped together in primary school, but they really became friends the day Twaddles' glasses were stolen by bullies. Afraid and lost, he found himself clinging to the closest object (Cloudy), and apologizing profusely, embarrassed to the point of tears.....Cloudy immediately reassured him and offered to walk him home. They ended up hanging out after school on the regular, bonding over a shared love of anime and junk food.

Twaddles is adored by his nerd daddos, and he loves them in turn. They have worked tirelessly from his birth to accommodate his every need and smother him with relentless affection. This contributed to Twaddles chipper outlook on life, and his shamelessness about his many interests. Like his parents, Twads loves a pedantic debate, and can often be seen squabbling with his dads over which obscure sci-fi series is better than which.


3.) Behind closed doors, Twaddles is, ah.....well, a fan of a lil something called hentai. He's got some rather interesting tastes. He doesn't seem to be interested in his fellow ponies, or even his wide-eyed anime waifus. Twaddles seems only interested in the rare, the exotic, the fantastical. Someone who is perhaps one of the few remaining members of her species. Someone with beautiful claws and paws and destructive magic. Someone like......hmmm.
