Just Borrowing It

Better Late than never, right?? This a sequel to This Piece Right Here.

At least it's not broken (yet) so technically she isn't lying! You know, when I made the Thanksgiving image way back at... thanksgiving... I intended for Claire to be a relatively sympathetic character. I don't know if she is anymore? But I don't think it matters. XD

Note on technique: I didn't actually map out the anatomy for her tuchas before drawing the chairs so I don't think it actually makes sense? I just sort of threw together a bunch of squishy shapes and hoped for the best but I think it worked out okay.

This is one of our favorite Birds of Prey, and we love photographing them - it's difficult though, at this point, to get a creative angle. But I feel like we managed to do so once again

Casting Necromancer

A necromancer casting her acidic spell. Created with photoshop & firestorm studio. Mid through this piece i replaced my old Wacom tablet with a new screen tablet. I replaced it with a xp-pen 22e. I still need to get used to working on a screen as it has changed my work flow completely. I hope you guys like this new piece! I'm trying to push into my style and improve myself along the way.

Here it is, the final piece of the monochrome paintings of Toho's Big Five - MechaGodzilla 1974!

This certainly presented a challenge. The other monsters didn't exactly have smooth textures and edges. But that's what made this such a fun piece to make!

I was going to only use shades of gray when I originally envisioned this piece, wanting it to come off as "silver". Especially after seeing them applied (in my usual darkest-to-lightest technique), simply using grays would have made it come off as a grayscale image, like one of my black-and-white paintings, albeit more elaborate. Much like how using a yellow ultimately made my Ghidorah painting come off as gold and not sepia-tone, using a light blue as a highlight gave it that metallic look I was going for. Plus, using blue (both as a highlight and underlight) also comes full-circle to the Godzilla piece.

Also, it'll be much clearer for the print, but that is supposed to be the "black mountain" cloud in the top-right, which signaled his arrival.

(I may have to try a second round of these at some point. Maybe with the Heisei designs, and maybe even mix it up a little, like a red Godzilla and blue Ghidorah, say.)

Battletech - Dervish IIC

Dervish IIC

The initial batch of Dervish IIC's were not new Mechs, indeed they were very old ones that Clan Burrock found when a Cache of Mechs was discovered. Of the scores of Dervishes in the Cache most were well preserved and could be reconditioned. Although primitive by modern standards, they were ideal for the resource limited Burrocks who refitted the Mech's with more modern, lighter weapons and replaced the age worn armour with a thick layer of higher quality but still 'standard' plate.

This resulted in some visual changes and finally a pair of ER Small Lasers and a single Flamer were installed.

The Mechs in the worst condition were stripped and their parts used to refurbish others, and they were also studied for reproducing the design.

Because of their simple nature if was rather easy to set up a small production line for the Mechs, and soon enough other Clans would start trialing for the design, starting its slow spread throughout the Homeworlds from the 3030's onwards.
