My LONG overdue half of my art trade with
Her characters, Victor the scarecrow and Kira the demon loli. (And her little demon mascot thingy.)
I am absolutely in love with these two. Victor looks big and scary but is super nice and gentle. Kira is shy and afraid of everything, but not of Victor. The two are so perfect together and are like best buddies and I LOVE THAT SO MUCH AAH THEY'RE SO DAMN CUTE!! I seriously can't get enough of them.
I added the pumpkin b/c of all the OCs I know of, Pyro-Zombies have the most halloweenish vibe, and since it's October I figured why not c: SO SPOOPY
I had so much fun with this. I hope you like it!

Here's the second set of WIP shots from the second set of princesses, designed and graciously allowed to be converted by Hannah-Alexander. This is a Work In Progress and does not reflect the final product. The next stage is beads, color quality check, and color placement refinement. While these patterns are hand drawn digitally, with a mouse, line by line, X by X, they are entirely based upon Hannah's original artwork.

Currently:
All are approximately 12 inches tall on 36 count, all are approximately 24 inches tall on 18 count.
Mulan: 59 colors, 7 hours 3 minutes
Tinkerbell: 52 colors, 10 hours 48 minutes
Esmeralda: 52 colors, 9 hours 37 minutes

Mulan started with 173 colors and now has 59. I'm concerned about her skintone: the original WIP (the computer generated color picks) has her cartoonish yellow (eek!) with easter-chicken shading and odd gray blobs. My cohorts and I looked at many, many reference images for Mulan and couldn't pin down a for-sure skin tone for her. Until further color refinement is done, she's sharing the same shading as Tinkerbell (and Belle, and Rapunzel, and Merida) with some slight change for her blush and shadows. She will most likely keep this coloring with further shading placement.

Tinkerbell started with 176 colors and now has 52. She was my personal choice for this set and so was the one I was most excited to do. She uses a lot of Kreinik threads all over her wings - soft, super sparkly yellow. I'm a fan of the blue-winged Tink myself, so I may be including a color substitute for that in the end (even though blue wings would really look odd with Hannah's artwork). I had to do just a bit of altering in some of the dress lines, pull the belt around, and tug some of the flowers, to make it fit properly with thread. Since Hannah's original description for Tink specifically states that it needs to be as sparkly as possible, all the color on the flowers (those whites, blues, purples, and pinks) are going to be beads!!


Esmeralda started with 174 colors and now has 52. Did you think Merida was the backstitching queen? Meet Esmeralda. Merida uses 771.8 inches of backstitching (on 18 count). Esmeralda wins the crown at 773 inches, and I haven't even done her tiara headband dealy yet. She's using Kreinik for her bracelets and currently tambourine (that might change). The gold detailing on her top-skirt-layer is metallic gold. I'm super unsure about her skintone as well... the computer-generated picks were making her terracotta orange. I don't think she's actually quite as dark brown as the colors I've chosen and will need further refinement, but until then these shades are making for good placeholders (and really aren't as dark in person). Originally, and you can see the change, I was using metallics for her skirt coins, but now I am going to use sequins. Because the sequins are specialized I will very, veryyyyyyy likely be selling small material packs to be mailed to purchasers of Esmeralda (solo or set).

Pattern will be Limited Edition to be consistent with the first set and future reissues of the pattern will be at Hannah's discretion.

This pose was a bitch.

I really really really love how it came out, though!

And that basket with the flowers was just asking to be added, do not even argue with me about this guys, trust me.

Harpy Eagle Pencil Drawing

Have not done a small splatter drawing in a while I also wanted to do something different for this one

Did a lot of these micro splatters instead of the massive once i was doing on all the other drawings. It was easier to show the right direction - in several ways at the same time. The eagle was done with water based color pencils and the black ink is triple black tattoo color. I really enjoyed working on it.

She's got a lucky strike

So I got a few really nice messages that I should try out GumRoad. Never heard of it until super recently and it's so neat! So I tried it and have placed a layered PSD plus progress of this one there!

Plush commission for an Etsy customer of a greyish striped hyena! To be honest I really like these animals and they had been on my to-plush list for a while, so I was really happy to get this commission! This little fellow is a squishy plush, 21 cm (8,5 inch) long from nose to bum and is made of various faux furs and minky. The stripes are all painted on with Copics, as is the shading around the face. I apply shading in layers and brush carefully after each application, letting it dry completely before adding a second layer to keep the softness of the fur. The manes are black-tipped and picked especially because of the possibility of puffing up the mane, like a real hyena can He has brown glass eyes and embroidered features. The tail is not wired. As always, everything is handsewn to my own design.

Africa!!

Yeah, sorry about yesterday, my parents had come for a visit here in Nottingham, and I just NEEDED to spend some time with the

Anyway, here is a new page!

Now, this page was really meaningful for me to paint. I tried the best of my abilities to make it as perfect as it can be.
It shows just how deep the conflict within Africa really is.
The conflict between following her instinct as a good mother for her cubs, and between following her mother's rules as a good daughter.

Sometimes it's really hard to make everyone happy, and it feels like no matter what we do, we're making a mistake either way. The feeling of being torn between two important decisions can be overwhelming. That's why I made panel 5 very symbolic - wrapped in shadow, Africa truly does resemble her mother.
