Style Funky Breaks, Breakbeat, Big Beat Date 6/08/2021 Quality MP3 320 kbps Imprint Big Fat Mama Beats Nr# BFMB031
Review: As always with Big Fat Mama Beats, they have come to put on a show with this latest addition to their 'Funk Bananas' compilation series, which enters its fourth edition with a dash of finesse. The combination of psychedelic melodies and groovy drum designs that lie at the heart of every track are what give the project a fantastic level of cohesion, as in the uplifting horn toots and lively vocals of Pecoe's 'Funky Individual'. The whole project hosts a pretty professional vibe, with the likes of Sir-Vere, The Funk Philosopher, Sonale, The Criminal Minds and more all making wavy additions. Our favourites from the project have to include the monstrous bass pulsations and techy arpeggios of B.U.U.G's 'Dancin Time', next to the Chubby Robots rework of 'Space Time' from Adrenalinez and Wiccatron's lively percussive masterclass in 'Funk Dribble.
Style Techno, BreakBeat, Acid Date 6/08/2021 Quality MP3 320 kbps Imprint Dirtybird USA Nr# DB265
Review: In the words of Fatboy Slim 'everybody needs a 303', but few people can meet this need better than Thee Mike B. On the title track, the LA DJ/producer drops a searing, gurgling 303 as the backdrop for a hazy, frazzled tale about real-life acid indulgence. Lubelski's version is more linear and dancefloor-focused, with the 303 lines woven into a chord-heavy, niggling techno rhythm. Meanwhile, Salva veers in an electro direction for the second remix, with crisp break beats and shuffling 808s providing the basis for a combination of dazed vocals and raw acid lines. If you emerge with your sanity intact, there's also a tripped out acapella to contend with.
Style BreakBeat, Breaks, Nu-Skool-Breaks Date 27/08/2021 Quality MP3 320 kbps Imprint Nipponeer Japan Nr# NPR039 Format Album
Inclusive: Huda Hudia, Kid Panel, DJ30A, Hankook, OnDamike, Perfect Kombo, Rasco. Review: Since The Darrow Chem Syndicate first arrived on Nipponeer Japan, they have been delivering top quality release after top quality release, with this, the B release of 'Roughside Out' doing more of the same in ultimate fashion with an incredible selection of remixes. The artists involved make this a very exciting prospect right from the off as the likes of Hankook, Huda Hudia & DJ30A and more all get involved for a selection of well thought out reworks, breathing a new lease of life into this already spectacular project. The nature of these remixes allows the project to cover a seriously wide area sonically, from the classic breakbeat grizzle of Rasco's 'The Fred Soul' rework, to the reese-heavy rethink of 'Tervetuloa' by Bad Legs and Perfect Kombo's shuffling overhaul of 'Spank In A Rocker'. Our two standouts have to include the colourful synth-lead re-imagining of 'Get Down' from the Beatslappaz, alongside OnDaMike's ethereal-rework of 'Polar Easterlies'. The whole project is powerful to say the least!

Inclusive: Destroyers, Hankook, Rasco, Perfect Kombo, Ondamike, Huda Hudia, DJ30A. Review: For a long time now, The Darrow Chem Syndicate have been providing us with top quality breakbeat originals, but this time around, courtesy of Nipponeer Japan, we see a new take on the sound with some scintillating remix additions. The lineup is crazy, with the likes of Bad Legs, Kid Panel, DJ Dllect and many more getting involved with this fiery collection. The range of the project is pretty wild, from Hankook & Destroyers turning 'Tervetuloa' into a grizzly roller to Rasco giving 'Bass Ma Tazz' a more melodic overhaul, doused in euphoric synthesizer action. The whole project boasts a very high level of creativity, but the highlights for us would have to include Huda Hudia & DJ30A's intricate electronic rethink of 'Tupolev 95', alongside OnDaMiKe's eastern inspired melodic overhaul of 'La Sambaretta'.
