On the North bank of the Mandovi River stands the Reis Magos Fort, said to be protecting the Taluka of Bardez. When the Adil Shahi Sultanate was defeated by the Portuguese, a fort was constructed in 1551 to be the first line of defence for the capital. It's been reconstructed and restored multiple times since then.
