Особняк был построен в 1900-1903 годах по заказу банкира и фабриканта С.П. Рябушинского. Степан Павлович был большим любителем и знатоком искусства, поэтому строительство дома было поручено его близкому другу - архитектору Ф. Шехтелю, который полностью спроектировал здание и создал его интерьеры. Особняк является ярким образцом модерна. Каждый фасад отличается своим неповторимым обликом. По законам стиля, пространство развивается изнутри наружу: планировка интерьеров обуславливает асимметрию внешних стен здания. Здесь преобладают массивный кубический объем, контраст изгибов и строгих линий.  Композиция помещений группируется вокруг парадной большой лестницы-волны. Ф. Шехтель создал мир образов с общей тематикой водной стихии: лестница-волна – символ вечного движения жизни.  В декоре использовано множество растительных узоров, изображений насекомых, животных надводного и подводного мира: черепахи, медузы, морские коньки, ракушки и др. Окно вестибюля украшено витражами в виде огромного крыла бабочки, мозаика пола изображает водную зыбь, рельеф лепнины напоминает подернутый ряской пруд с нерасторопной улиткой. Парные торшеры в виде крыльев стрекозы с витражной частью образуют своеобразную ширму-перегородку между входной зоной и остальными помещениями дома.   The mansion was built in 1900-1903 by order of the banker and manufacturer S.P. Ryabushinsky. Stepan Pavlovich was a great lover and connoisseur of art, so the construction of the house was entrusted to his close friend, the architect F. Shekhtel, who completely designed the building and created its interiors. The mansion is a striking example of Art Nouveau. Each facade has its own unique appearance. According to the laws of style, space develops from the inside out: the layout of the interiors determines the asymmetry of the external walls of the building. Massive cubic volume, contrast of curves and strict lines prevail here. The composition of the premises is grouped around the grand grand staircase-wave. F. Shekhtel created a world of images with a general theme of the water element: a staircase-wave - a symbol of the eternal movement of life. The decor uses many floral patterns, images of insects, animals of the surface and underwater world: turtles, jellyfish, seahorses, shells, etc. The lobby window is decorated with stained glass in the form of a huge butterfly wing, the floor mosaic depicts a water swell, the stucco relief resembles a pond covered with duckweed a sluggish snail. Paired floor lamps in the shape of dragonfly wings with a stained glass part form a kind of screen-partition between the entrance area and the rest of the house.

Seagrass meadows, specifically those formed by Posidonia oceanica, commonly referred to as marine grasses, are critical underwater ecosystems for marine biodiversity and coastal stability. Within the Caribbean, these meadows play an essential role in protecting and enriching marine habitats, offering vital ecosystem services such as oxygen production and carbon sequestration, substantially aiding in climate change mitigation (Orth et al., 2006; Waycott et al., 2009). Puerto Lindo and the Posidonia Meadows: A Glimpse into Biodiversity Situated in the province of Col'on near Portobelo, Puerto Lindo is an area of remarkable natural beauty and biological diversity. The presence of Posidonia meadows in this region is not only fundamental for the ecological health of the Caribbean but also serves as a crucial nursery for numerous fish and crustacean species, whose survival is vital for both local fishing and species conservation (Barbier et al., 2011). Portobelo: A Historical and Touristic Crossroads Portobelo, renowned for its rich history as one of the most significant ports during the Spanish colonial era in the Caribbean, today stands as a site of cultural and touristic interest. Celebrated for its annual festival of the Black Christ and its fortifications listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Portobelo bears witness to the melding of colonial past and the vibrant Afro-descendant culture of the region (UNESCO, 1980). Socioeconomic Disparity: Isla Mamey and Linton Bay The panoramic photograph also unveils the stark socioeconomic disparities in the province of Col'on. While places like Isla Mamey and Linton Bay attract international tourists and boaters with their natural beauty and nautical facilities, many local Afro-descendant communities face significant challenges. The poverty and limited access to basic services sharply contrast with the opulence of nearby tourist destinations, highlighting the coexistence of two distinct worlds (Government of Panama, 2019). Conservation vs. Development: A Delicate Balance Touristic development in areas such as Portobelo and its surroundings poses significant challenges for the conservation of marine ecosystems. The construction of infrastructure and the increase in marine traffic can lead to the degradation of Posidonia meadows, underscoring the need to implement sustainable management practices that balance economic development with environmental conservation (Jones et al., 2016). Conservation efforts in Puerto Lindo and adjacent areas must prioritize environmental education and the development of ecotourism as means to generate revenue while protecting and restoring the marine ecosystem (UNEP, 2008). Initiatives such as the designation of marine protected areas and the regulation of touristic activities are crucial for preserving the natural and cultural wealth of the region for future generations.
