This panorama was taken by the left Navcam of the NASA Perseverance rover in the afternoon of Sol 999 (December 12, 2023), I also added sky images taken at around the same time of day on Sol 997. After staying at Airey Hill for the duration of the solar conjunction, the rover is back on the move towards Neretva Vallis in the west. The elevated position gave the rover a great view towards Neretva Vallis and the crater rim in the west. In the far east behind the rover, Jezero Mons can be seen peeking through the Martian haze. This panorama was taken by the left Navcam of the NASA Perseverance rover in the afternoon of Sol 1001 (December 14, 2023), I also added sky images taken at around the same time of day on Sol 997. After staying at Airey Hill for the duration of the solar conjunction, the rover is back on the move towards Neretva Vallis in the west. However, it seems like the AutoNAV algorithm got confused, causing the rover to drive aimlessly in a large A-shape before halting in the current position and awaiting new commands from Earth. The Frasassi Caves is a complex of caverns with breathtaking views. One of this is The Cavern of the candles (La Sala delle Candeline)The name comes from the alabaster-white stalagmites that grow from the bottom and ceiling of the cave like candles and grow in small rock depressions resembling saucers. Like all the Frasassi Caves, the Candle Chamber was hollowed out by rainwater washing away the limestone rock.
