Blackbutt Reserve in Newcastle, Australia, is a large reserve in the middle of suburbia. In addition to native bushland, it also features many picnic areas and display attractions. There are several animal and bird enclosures in the main Carnley Avenue location, including this large aviary which also includes koalas (one is visible in the image). Amongst the many birds in the enclosure, close to the camera are an adult Pied Cormorant and its chick nesting under the roof.
