During the colony this corner was known as Plazuela de las 'Animas, for being near a chapel that, once closed to worship, served as a women's prison. Later the name was changed to honor the insurgent Don Manuel Villalong'in who rescued his wife who was a prisoner there.

Saona Island is one of the most beautiful dominican destination well known for the beautifull beaches with tropical vegetation and coral reefs allaround. Part of the Parque Nacional Cotubanama Saona is also famous for the fact that scenes of the Pirates of the Caribbean and Blue Lagoon were filmed here. Situated at the Caribbean Sea only 90 minutes away from Punta Cana with the catamaran, this is for sure the best dominican gateway with beautifull white sands and turqoise water.

This Panorama was made in May 2012 and is part of my Personal Project "Ciudad Dormida" (Sleeping City) which consists of seeing the city as a living being, that can be awake or asleep, in which I show places without people that are generally very crowded making the metaphor that the city is asleep. PS: It has not been made during confinement.
