A funerary chapel of Visigothic origin, a rare pre-Romanic monument in Portugal. Follows the model of Gala Placidia of Ravenna. Around 656 S~ao Frutuoso, Bishop of Bracara, founded the Monastery of S~ao Salvador in this place, ordering the construction of the chapel for its tomb. When he died in 665 he is buried here. In the Church of S.Francisco, the relics of S.Frutuoso are preserved, taken to Santiago de Compostela in 1102 during the incursion of the Archbishop of Compostela D.Guelmirez and returned only in 1966. In 1523 the Archbishop of Braga, D.Diogo de Sousa founds the Franciscan Convent of Capuchos da Piedade here, probably destroying the former Monastery of S. Salvador. In 1728, by order of Archbishop D. Rodrigo de Moura Teles, the reconstruction and remodeling of the church of the convent of S~ao Francisco begins, with the Chapel of S~ao Frutuoso integrated into the church and having main access through its interior; the main facade, the internal canopies and respective columns are destroyed, and the East and North arms are modified. The conventual premises are to the east of the chapel of S.Frutuoso and form a U.

Built in 1562 by Archbishop D.Frii Bartolomeu dos Martires, under the probable guidance of master Manuel Lu'is (he worked at the Convento de S. Goncalo de Amarante and at the Igreja da Miseric'ordia do Porto). Mannerist facade of Flemish influences (manuals by Vriedmann de Vries), also visible at the same time in works in northern Portugal.

In 1998, when the previous floor of the Largo de S~ao Paulo was dismantled, several Roman walls were identified. In the impossibility of carrying out an archaeological excavation in an area, the walls were designed and photographed by the Archeology Unit of the University of Minho, and it was decided that they would be marked on the current pavement. The positioning of the walls in the fabric of the Roman city, allows to know that they were integrated in a residential block, and must be part of a domus (family house). On January 27, 2017, the statue of D. Frei Bartolomeu dos M'artires, by the artist H'elder Carvalho, was inaugurated and is placed on a sturdy granite pedestal designed by the architect Gerardo Esteves.

This convent was destined to the religious of the Immaculate Conception, and was built from 1719 on the initiative of D. Rodrigo de Moura Teles. Only the Church and the cloister remain from the original convent. In 1652 there was a female gathering of the Third Order of S. Francisco dedicated to Our Lady of Penha de Franca, a project by the architect Teodoro de Frias and built by the master Adri~ao Jo~ao. The tiles in the chancel depict scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary and were created by Policarpo de Oliveira Bernardes. The rest portray scenes from the life of S. Francisco.

Here the "Vinha de Santa Euf'emia" once existed. D.Diogo de Sousa, who was due to build several city squares, transformed the place into an extensive public yard. Around it, several buildings emerged: the Seminary of S. Pedro 1571-1572, already disappeared, the Convent of P'opulo dos Eremitas de Santo Agostinho, the Recollection of the Beatas of Santo Ant'onio, the Convent of Salvador, the Hospital of the Benedictines, and the noble house of Maci'eis Aranhas.

It was one of the doors on the city walls, torn in 1512, at the time of the Archbishop of Braga, D. Diogo de Sousa. Its current shape dates from 1772, at the initiative of Archbishop D. Gaspar de Braganca, designed by Braga architect Andr'e Soares, in a historic moment when the city was breaking through the old walls, expanding. Next to it is a medieval tower, belonging to the fernandine wall, and practically covered by the houses. Entrance is through the Image Museum.

This 30m Tower, crowned with merlons and matac~aes, is the old keep of the medieval citadel built by D. Dinis, and concluded during the reign of D. Fernando. The citadel was demolished in 1905 at the initiative of the municipality, with great controversy, standing the Torre de Menagem and a cell that serves as the bell tower of the Church of Lapa

Largo de Santiago is located in the very center of the old Roman city of Braga, close to the old Roman Forum. The medieval wall also passed through here, in which we can see one of its towers, the Torre de Santiago next to the Porta de Santiago, the old entrance to the city for those who came from Porto and pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela. Next to the door is the Santiago Seminary that was once the Col'egio de S.Paulo da Companhia de Jesus. This college was built in 1567 by Archbishop D. Bartolomeu dos M'arties - an intervener in the Council of Trent, and beatified by John Paul II. With the expulsion of the Jesuits by the Marquis of Pombal in 1759, the building was occupied by the Ursuline nuns, and in 1884, it was ceded to the Archdiocese for the installation of the S. Pedro Seminary. With the implantation of the Republic, it was transformed into a barracks of the Infantry Regiment 29 for some decades. It was returned to the Church and serves as a Seminary. Its 16th century portal came from the old seminary of S. Pedro

View from the summit of King Mountain (elev. 5,264') south of Quines Creek, Oregon. The mountain is the highest in the region w/ 2,204' of prominence. The space adjacent to the axial portal, vestibule at the entrance of the Paleocristan basilica, intended for catechumens, so that they could attend the rituals, without participating directly, because they still do not baptise continued in use in the churches of the Middle Ages and even after losing its meaning , in later periods, remained demarcated by the space between the port and the wind

This is an interpolated and rendered panorama to simulate Mars at night. The original image was taken by NASA. Corrections of parallax errors and increase of resolution were made leaving the image with much more details than the original image. About the image below: This panorama, taken on Feb. 20, 2021, by the Navigation Cameras, or Navcams, aboard NASA's Perseverance Mars rover, was stitched together from six individual images after they were sent back to Earth. A key objective for Perseverance's mission on Mars is astrobiology, including the search for signs of ancient microbial life. The rover will characterize the planet's geology and past climate, pave the way for human exploration of the Red Planet, and be the first mission to collect and cache Martian rock and regolith. Subsequent missions, currently under consideration by NASA in cooperation with ESA (European Space Agency), would send spacecraft to Mars to collect these cached samples from the surface and return them to Earth for in-depth analysis. The Mars 2020 Perseverance mission is part of NASA's Moon to Mars exploration approach, which includes artemis missions to the Moon that will help prepare for human exploration of the Red Planet. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California built and manages operations of the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover for NASA.
