With an irregular hexagonal plane, it was built during the first quarter of the 18th century (1714). In honor of the patron saint, a very curious annual party is held, which is one of the most characteristic of Aveiro. Here is held one of the most beloved parties of the people of the Beira-Mar neighborhood. It takes place in the Chapel of S. Goncalinho on the Sunday closest to the 10th of January and during it promises are paid to the Saint throwing kilos of sweet cavacas from the dome to the public. Another ritual of the party, performed in the evening inside the chapel, is the delivery of the branch. It is a branch of artificial flowers, preserved for many years with religious care. The S. Goncalinho party also includes Danca dos Mancos, a ritual also performed inside the small chapel. This dance is performed by a group of men who, pretending to be lame and physically disabled, move round, limping and dancing to the sound of the songs that echo in the chapel. The party is held in honor of S~ao Goncalo, known in that neighborhood as S. Goncalinho. He was born in 1190 in Arriconha, near Guimar~aes, gaining fame as a matchmaker saint when he preached in the parish of Aboadela do Mar~ao where, as a good parish priest, he wanted to sacrament couples who lived in immoral situations. S. Goncalo died in the middle of the 13th century. His cult expanded, quickly reaching Aveiro, more precisely in the Beira-Mar neighborhood. In this neighborhood, he is given healing powers in bone diseases and in solving marital problems.

The Costa Nova do Prado beach, also known only as Costa Nova, is located on the western coast of Portugal, on the Ria de Aveiro coastline. It is located in the municipality of 'Ilhavo, as well as Praia da Barra, in the Central Region of Portugal. It had its origin in the opening of the Ria de Aveiro bar, from the year 1808. The designation, it is believed, is due to two facts. The first, "Costa Nova", as opposed to "Costa Velha" (S~ao Jacinto). Secondly, it is due to the fact that in this place, there was a huge and green meadow.

She is buried by the Grave Creek (named after her) Covered Bridge which was built in 1920. Interestingly, her great grandfather on her father's side, Samuel Croley (c. 1741 - October 10, 1774), is noted as the first American killed during the Revolutionary War.

The graves of the Cowden family lay in final rest here at Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point, Oregon. While on a camping trip during Labor Day weekend, 1974 near Copper, Oregon, they disappeared from their campsite & their mostly skeletal remains were discovered seven months later seven miles away; Richard Cowden was found tied to a tree while his wife & children were shot & beaten & left concealed in a small cave. No weapon was ever found & despite one possible suspect ever named, their murders remain nearly 50 years unsolved. More info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cowden_family_murders
