Gigapixel view from the summit of Steve Peak (elev. 5,835') south of Applegate, Oregon. The peak is on a east-west ridgeline b/w Grayback Mountain to the north & Whisky Peak/Arnold Peak to the south. Here one can get fantastic views in all directions including the distant Cascade Range to the east, including Mt. McLoughlin, Thielsen, & Bailey. The eastern Siskiyous include Dutchman Peak, Wagner Butte, which in turn span into Northern California facing the Red Buttes, Kangaroo Mountain, Pyramid Peak, even Preston Peak & El Capitan to the southwest. The summit has been used for a fire lookout since at least 1916, however a forest fire on August 31, 1918 swept up from the Carberry Creek side up the mountaintop & destroyed the lookout. Another one was started by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933 however it has been abandoned since the 1950s. Remnants of the newer lookout including the cement foundations are prevalent throughout the summit. There has been a fresh dusting of snow covering the region w/ more to come. This Chen Clan Academy was organized by two Chinese-Americans who wanted Chen clan students to have an academy in Guangzhou. It was built just before the end of the Qing era between 1890 and 1894. It became a museum in 1957, and the remaining artwork and traditional architecture and decorations were deemed to be so valuable that in 1988 it was named a National Key Cultural Heritage Protection Unit by the State Council of China. It now is a Chinese folk art museum. It is one of Guangzhou's best tourist highlights. https://www.chinahighlights.com/guangzhou/attraction/chen-ancestral-shrine.htm

Following the road that leads towards the base of the Red Buttes in the Red Buttes Wilderness near Seiad Valley, California. Lingering snow makes access to the area impassable, even so with a bicycle. Unfortunately, a few months after this photo, the Miller Complex Fire swept through here, burning most of the vegetation seen.
