The beautiful view towards Sella group and pizes de Cir from Gardena pass (Italian: Passo Gardena; German: Gr"odnerjoch; Ladin: Ju de Frara or J"euf de Frea) in the Dolomites of the South Tyrol in northeast Italy. At an elevation of 2,136 m (7,008 ft) above sea level, the pass connects S"elva in the Val Gardena on the west side with Corvara in the Val Badia. The Bend Glacier is located on the north side of Broken Top in the Three Sisters Wilderness near Sisters, Oregon.  It is the larger of two glaciers on the mountain, though relatively small in area with a few jumbled crevasses in the center.  Here one can see a few tarns (proglacial lakes) below the terminus in varied colors; the moraine descends down in a ridge nearly half a mile, showing how much considerably larger the icefield was at the end of the Little Ice Age.  Hazy skies from forest fires has left distant views limited to just the Three Sisters themselves.

Arch"aologen entdeckten am Fusse des Berges drei, mit sensationellen Beigaben ausgestatteten, F"urtstengr"aber. Der Fund einer, bis auf die F"usse vollst"andig erhaltenen, Stadue eines Kriegers waren Veranlassung am Fundort einen Archeologischen Park zu instalieren. Micha

Soap Creek comes from springs underneath the moraine of the Thayer Glacier tarn on the east face of North Sister near Sisters, Oregon.  The water level remains consistant leading to the pretty growth of moss along its sides.

No Name Lake is a proglacial lake on the east side of Broken Top in the Three Sisters Wilderness, Oregon.  It was created during the Little Ice Age, to which most of the glacier is gone today.  This view is from the high point of one of the neoglacial moraines w/ rock flour still giving the lake a distinct turquoise color.  Broken Top's barren eroded red contrast adds a nice backdrop, making this hike is popular w/ the trail's end at the top of the ridge leading to an overlook of the Three Sisters & the Bend Glacier.  There was elk alongside the lake, though not too visible in this photo.  Haze from forest fires crept in during the night limiting the views.

View from the summit of Broken Hand (elev. 8,376') in the Three Sisters Wilderness near Sisters, Oregon.  This high point follows a ridgeline from the nearby Tam McArthur Rim to the east end of Broken Top, consisting of a resistant lava capped top that is a small scramble to climb.  The view here is nice, especially towards Broken Top & No Name Lake, a proglacial lake surrounded by moraines.  The view unfortunately is quite hazy from nearby forest fires w/ nearby glimpses of the Three Sisters, Mount Bachelor, & Ball Mountain.  Later on in the day however the conditions worsened to where Broken Top itself was a blur.

This proglacial lake is located below the east face of North Sister in the Three Sisters Wilderness near Sisters, Oregon.  It is completely landlocked by the moraines to which underground water emerges as clear springs from the other side.  Here it has a color tint from what is left of the old Thayer Glacier, which is almost vanished.  A barren landscape, the air quality was also bad due to forest fire smoke - you can barely see the outline of Broken Top only a few miles away.

The Cabin Lake bird blind is located north of Fort Rock, Oregon & consists of this small newly-installed shed w/ five small openings where individuals can sit & watch/photograph birds & other wildlife drink from a small circular cement guzzler.  Through the middle window, one can see a cluster of birds gathering around for a drink - even during a short duration one can see quite a fit of wildlife.
