A view of one of the Garden Bridges in Lava Beds National Monument outside Tulelake, California. This is part of nearby Hopkins Chocolate Cave which enters further downhill however large collapses here have led to breakdown pits as well as these fantastic natural bridges to resist collapse, which in-turn make a nice lighting effect when the sun is hovering low.

Inside Hopkins Chocolate Cave in Lava Beds National Monument outside Tulelake, California. This lava tube has pronounced pahoehoe floors as well as impressive lavacicle formations. Perhaps this is the most famous feature of the cave, a small pillar w/ a welded rafted block of lava attached. The ceiling height here is relatively low, look to see the old signature from E.L. Hopkins dated October 2, 1892. The brown shiny lava drippings (lava ribs) down the wall give the cave the name, as they are seen throughout the passageway. Parts of the walls are covered in bacteria, which light up bright gold when water droplets cover them.

You cannot walk down the steps and without the possibility of shots with a tripod, with incredibly long and annoying negotiation. (As everywhere in India). Finally at least for a bribe was the chance to take a panorama from the hand...
