Interview with Marshall Allman

 

We got the opportunity to do an interview with Marshall Allman, the star from "Prison Break". He talks about the show, his new project, which season he prefers and why and much more.

1. You just finished shooting "The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle". What can you tell us about it?

 

"Little Dizzle" is a film that I am very excited about. Wow! I don't even know where to begin with speaking about this film – it has comedy, it has depth, it has some things you might never have thought of before in your entire life. From the moment I first read this film I thought two things: "This is special" and "this is unforgettable" so when the director called to say he wanted me for the lead I was honored because I thought so highly of the film. To quote their website: "The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle" is a character driven, feature length comedy written and directed by acclaimed Seattle filmmaker David Russo. 2. Also "Dishdogz" just came out on DVD. The film isn’t available in germany, so what can you tell us about it? What is it about? Which character did you play?

 

"Dishdogz" is a fun summer film about a kid who is sent away for the summer and stumbles upon a dream skating camp. Not only does he meet new friends, get better at skating but he also meets and falls in love with the hottest girl at camp – see I told you good summer fun right? I play the lead kid – Kevin.

 

3. You are (only) 23 years old and got your first role on television a few years ago. When did you decide to become an actor? Have you ever thought of studying something else?

 

I decided to become an actor when I could no longer become a soccer (sorry, Fußball) player. I was 18 looking for something other than soccer and stumbled upon acting via Steven Nash and moved to Hollywood to pursue the craft. Actually I have studied many things including directing, writing, and other aspects of film making as well As far as other hobbies I have many. As an actor, I am compelled to study many things to portray them accurately on the screen. For example I have studied skateboarding, janitorial services and bell hopping for recent roles. I am constantly exploring new things that can be a part of my acting work.

 

4. For nearly one year you’ve been married to Jamie Brown. Where did you meet her and how long have you two known each other?

 

MY WIFE! Bottom line is she is the woman of my dreams and I fell madly in love with her from the moment I first saw her... As far as how we first met that story is too long for this interview – maybe I will make it into a film... hmm... yeah that sounds like a good idea... ask me about that in a year.

 

5. When you first read the script of "Prison Break" what did you think?

 

Loved it. I thought: "Powerful story line between father and son. Great premise for a new show – it will be great".

 

6. Did you do the audition for the character of LJ? Or was it another character on the show?

 

Oh yeah I auditioned only for LJ, which was quite an experience – it was the first pilot I had screen tested for and at the last audition I think I read in front of twenty people, all wearing suits, but the memory was so nerve racking I think I blocked it out.

 

7. Season one and two are very different. Do you prefer a season? If you do: why?

 

Well both seasons are really interesting but I would say my own personal attachment leans toward season one... I don't know there's just something about running barefoot in downtown Chicago that hits me straight in the heart.

 

8. Many characters died in season two. Did you know that LJ would survive?

 

Yes – cause how could they kill the only thing Lincoln is living for – no actually I had no idea and every week when I got the new scripts I was sure I was going to bite the big one.

 

9. The last time we saw LJ on screen was in episode #2.18 Wash. He started to live a "normal" life. Now that his father is a free man again do you think they'll reunite again soon?

 

I know that Lincoln will do anything for his son or die trying and LJ would do anything for his dad... It's all about the depth of a father's love for his child.

 

10. What else can you tell us about LJ's storyline in season three? Will we see him more often?

 

Season three – you know about as much as I do – the writers room uses fingerprint access and infrared technology to protect the secrets of season three. Seriously I tried to infiltrate their lab and I almost lost my hand just like T-Bag. These guys aren't messing around.

 

11. Besides "The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle" and "Winged Creatures" do you have any other projects you can tell us about?

 

Well actually I never told you about "Winged Creatures" but I'm glad you asked. "Winged Creatures" has all-star studded cast with some academy award winners and then me. I play Forest Whitakers bellhop who tries to encourage him to stop gambling.

 

12. Since myFanbase is an online magazine about TV Series do you have a favorite one?

 

Yes I have a few. (1) The Shield (esp. season 1 and 2 – featuring Jamie Brown Allman) (2) The Office – the BBC version (3) Get Smart (4) Saved by the Bell- pre college years (5) Man vs. Wild – unbelievable what that guy does.

Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell, played by Robert Knepper, is a fictional character from the American television series, Prison Break. He is part of the main group of characters in the series. After guest-starring in the series' second episode, "Allen", the actor became one of the regular cast members.

The character was introduced into the series as a fellow prisoner of the protagonist, Michael Scofield (played by Wentworth Miller), at Fox River State Penitentiary. As the leader of a white supremacist group, T-Bag is the most villainous of the Fox River Eight. In the second season, the character's storyline veers from the main plot as a separate subplot. As the series progresses, more of the background story of the character is revealed. T-Bag is described by TV Guide's Maya Schechter as "one of the creepiest characters on television" and is mentioned by Entertainment Weekly as one of "TV's best villains"

A native of Conecuh County, Alabama, Theodore Bagwell was born of both incest and rape after his father sexually assaulted his Down syndrome-afflicted sister. He was also molested by his father. Theodore's father is also the person responsible for his eloquent use of language, making him learn whole encyclopedias and dictionaries believing this would enable his son to lead a better life and maybe even become President one day. He once ordered T-bag to recite 10 synonyms for 'destroy' to demonstrate his ability in front of some friends of his father. Bagwell spent his youth in and out of jail, often for vandalism and torturing animals. While in fourth grade, he attempted to set his teacher's house on fire and was sentenced to juvenile hall. During this time, he became a member of the Alliance for Purity, a white supremacist group.

As an adult, T-Bag starts committing more serious crimes such as battery, assault, attempted murder, murder, rape, and kidnapping. He quickly becomes the leader of the Alliance for Purity inside Donaldson Prison in Alabama and under his leadership the gang becomes so powerful inside the prison that the warden disbands it and sends T-Bag to Fox River.

Prior to incarceration at Fox River, Bagwell eludes the authorities and pursues a relationship with a single mother named Susan Hollander, who has two children of her own from a previous marriage. This was one of the storylines featured in the first season's flashback episode, "Brother's Keeper". Upon learning that he is a wanted murderer and rapist (by watching America's Most Wanted), she notifies the police. T-Bag had genuine feelings for Susan and had tried to change, but her betrayal prompts "that old dirty bastard [to come] right back home".

Upon seeing that there were no Alliance for Purity members at Fox River, T-Bag starts a new chapter of the gang; its growth grants him significant influence within the prison. An open bisexual, he has no qualms about seeking sexual gratification from other inmates, often preying upon younger men.
