Vices & Virtues is the new album from Panic! At The Disco, and the first since the departure of two of the original members. Now spearheaded by lead vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Brendan Urie and drummer/percussionist Spencer Smith, the effort has garnered positive reviews and landed in the top 10 on the charts.
When a teenage Brendon Urie told his parents he was dropping out of high school and dedicating his life to being in a band, mum and dad kicked him out of home. In drummer Spencer Smith’s case, it was the same scenario. Several years and three albums later, that band is Panic! At The Disco and you can bet the lads’ parents are very proud of their sons. All’s forgiven and forgotten, according to Smith…
Panic! At the Disco’s Brendon Urie and Spencer Smith have given Rolling Stone an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of their new ‘Ready to Go’ video. According to director Shane Drake, the concept began with the simple idea of wanting to shoot Urie out of a cannon. Around that he built a video that incorporates a secret portal to a magical world, a stuffed zebra and a Singin’ in the Rain homage on a misty, cobblestoned street. “It’s our version of a musical,” explains Smith. Urie steals the show throughout as a dancing chimney sweep, a Buddy Holly lookalike and as high-caliber cannon fodder. — RS.com
