So did Mulder get high off a placebo or did Einstein actually give him mushrooms, and just say they were a placebo so she didn't get in trouble? I was a bit unsure at then end.

Pretty wild for the placebo effect... or was something else going on? And did they have to use Muslim terrorist refugees, reinforcing the stereotype? And what do we think about Miller and Einstein, the junior Mulder and Scully?
I have to admit I found this one silly. The original series did some silly episodes occasionally, and they were good tension breakers, but I question the sense of one in this six episode mini season. It seems sort of like a waste of the little time they have. Though it does make good thematic points with Mulder doubting himself, and his beliefs.
Okay, I've seen the episode twice now and I still don't quite understand the new conspiracy theory. Can someone explain in a simple way how Mulder arrives at his theory and what exactly it is? And how has it changed by the end of the episode? Did he revert or was the new theory strengthened? I'm so confused.
