There are two finely chased areas on each side of the body with a chased elephant tackling a lion. The second side shows the lion defeated. Very well constructed and in excellent condition. Unmarked.
Very unusual Gorham sterling silver apple with hinged lid and textured surface. Applied leaf decoration. The lid fits together with the base with a jagged irregular seam as if the apple had been peeled open. Dated 1883 with the Gorham date letter P.

A rare Gorham tea caddy with a special sample hallmarked number on the base manufactured in 1893, the year of the Columbian Exposition in Chicago. The body is chased with cherubs and flowers and the finial is an applied cherub head. The interior is gold washed. The chasing and style is similar to the Martele series manufactured by Gorham. In addition to the chasing there is a layer of hand engraving on the surface giving the decoration an additional dimension.
