Interestingly, the parties managed to resolve the multi-million dollar dispute out of court. Back in 2012, Apple Inc. submitted a claim to Samsung, charging its South Korean rival with stealing several technological solutions devised for iPhone. Samsung allegedly employed them in Galaxy smartphones. The US corporation estimated its losses at $1 billion and demanded compensation. Having failed to collect this amount, Apple Inc. was ready to reach a compromise, claiming $290 million. The company had bad luck again. After a short pause, Apple Inc. resumed its complaint in 2015, demanding $548 million before legal proceedings are launched. This time, Samsung again asserted its interests. Remarkably, the South Korean manufacturer did not deny its fault, but estimated the fact of borrowing technologies at $28 million. Terms of settlement are unavailable for the public as both parties evaded comments on which amount they agreed.

It is too early to say that the patent war is over. The electronic giants have been involved in a series of patent infringement lawsuits in different countries. By the way, according to court verdicts they both have been found guilty of copying technologies and design and penalized.

The 19-member eurozone unemployment rate still stood at 8.4% in May, the EU's statistics body Eurostat announced. This remains the lowest rate recorded in the euro area since December 2008.

Eurostat cut its estimate of the jobless rate in April from 8.5% to 8.4%. Analysts had expected the figure to be unrevised at 8.5%.

The number of unemployed across the eurozone fell by 125,000 to 13.656 million in May. It was the lowest rate recorded in the EU28 in a decade.

The lowest unemployment rates were recorded in the Czech Republic (2.3%) and Germany (3.4%), and the highest rates were seen in Greece (20.1%) and Spain (15.8%). According to the European Commission, the euro area economic sentiment has significantly deteriorated in the past month. The decline has been recorded during six months in a row. PBOC boosts market liquidity in surprise move

The People's Bank of China surprised markets by lending 200 billion yuan ($31 billion) to financial institutions via its medium-term lending facility (MLF). According to analysts, this highlights concerns over liquidity and possible negative consequences for the economy from a trade war with the United States.

The unexpected injection of funds came just hours after US President Donald Trump said the US could impose a 10% tariff on $200 billion of Chinese goods.

The interest rate for the one-year MLF was 3.30%, the PBOC said.

The move also comes after the central bank's unexpected decision last week to leave borrowing costs for interbank loans unchanged after the US Federal Reserve raised its federal funds rate. Analysts had forecast the People's Bank of China to follow the Fed to keep the spread between Chinese and US yields stable.

China’s central bank also said that it injected another 100 billion yuan via reverse repos. The PBOC last injected funds via MLFs in early June, lending 463 billion yuan to financial institutions.

Cost of sponsors’ participation advanced as the number of those who wanted to sponsor the championship rose. This year Chinese companies took the lead. Seven out of twenty official sponsors of the World Cup 2018 are from China. Electronic Arts, a video game developer, spent 160 million dollars last year to buy the right to use the brand of this World Cup in the football simulator FIFA 18. This sum is bigger by 233% than the previous year’s one.

In 2014 FIFA earned 4.8 billion dollars when the World Cup was held in Brazil, while in 2010 it made a profit of 3.9 billion in South Africa. Reportedly, Russia, the host country of FIFA World Cup 2018, will increase its gross domestic product by 1%.
