hard_drug_ (life_is_blood) все записи автора My Chemical Romance - альтернативная/поп-панк(эмо) группа, основанная в Нью-Джерси. Из влияний на коллектив можно выделить Thursday и в меньшей степени Cursive. Большинство творений MCR – это громкие, скоростные и агрессивные песни, не лишённые мелодики и ориентированные в основном на мэйнстрим. Группа была основана в начале 2000 года, когда вокалист Gerard Way и ударник Matt Pelissier решили попробовать создать что-нибудь вместе(надо сказать, что оба музыканта были друзьями ещё со школьной скамьи).Их первой мелодией стала "Skylines and Turnstiles"(Горизонты и Турникеты).Это название отражает тот факт, что Gerard Way в то время работал в Нью-Йорке в области мультипликации. Однако оба музыканта в скором времени стали подумывать о полноценной песне и поэтому попросили гитариста Ray’а Toto поработать вместе. В квинтет MCR превратились, когда в группу пришли гитарист Frank Lero и басист Mikey Way (брат вокалиста Gerard’а Way’а). Именно в таком составе группа начала давать концерты и подумывать о своём первом диске.
Дебютный альбом романсов вышел в 2002 году на инди лейбле Eyeball Records(на котором также записывались Thursday). Пластинка получила название I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. Этот альбом очень часто стали сравнивать с творчеством Thursday. В общем-то это сравнение по некоторым причинам было неизбежным. Обе группы были родом из Нью-Джерси, обе записывались на Eyeball Records, и та и другая играла смесь агрессивного поп-панка с самосозерцательной лирикой. Ко всему прочему, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love был спродюсирован Geoff ‘ом Rickly – вокалистом Thursday. Ну и скажите теперь, могли MCR избежать сравнений с Thursday?!Однако это не единственная группа оказавшая влияние на романсов. Критики в своих обзорах любят также упоминать the Smiths, Morrissey, the Cure и the Misfits.А сами музыканты говорили даже об Iron Maiden…
Лирически первый альбом группы – очень мрачная работа. Gerard Way,которому и принадлежат тексты всех песен утверждает, что этот альбом – отражение того тяжёлого пути, который пришлось ему пройти(там были и глубокая депрессия, и серьёзная болезнь членов его семьи).В этот альбом вошла также самая первая композиция романсов Skylines and Turnstiles и много других песен с не менее интригующими названиями: "Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough for the Two of Us," "Drowning Lessons," "Headfirst for Halos," "Our Lady of Sorrows," и "Vampires Will Never Hurt You." В 2003 MCR сменила лейбл на Reprise/Warner Bros.,а спустя год выпустили Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge.
