Jealous Ron, 23, ended the relationship after Nereida confessed to a torrid previous affair with Real Madrid defender SERGIO RAMOS.
Close pals told The Sun the Portuguese winker had grown bored of Spanish beauty Nereidas 32D charms.
But he also did not fancy facing Ramos in the Real dressing room if his move from Manchester United goes ahead.
Nereida, 24, was still wearing a massive diamond ring Ronaldo bought her as she walked near her home in Majorca yesterday.
She insisted: This is all nonsense. I spoke to him today, like always. We are together. He told me he loves me and I him.
But a source close to Ronaldo said: Details of past relationships became known to Cristiano which he hadnt known before and he was unhappy.
He had also become bored of the relationship. Hes a young man and felt it was the right time.
Ronaldo began seeing Nereida in January. But last month it emerged she had scored with £80,000-a-week Ramos, 22, after they met in a nightclub last November.
It is understood the pair remained in touch even after Nereida began seeing Ronaldo.
Spanish football agent Pedro Campane has also told how he romped with her in his flat after chatting her up in a club.

Ronaldo, recovering from surgery on his injured ankle, was pictured smooching with Nereida in Sardinia last month.
It is also understood he was fed up with Nereida because his hoped-for transfer to Real Madrid was being linked to her desire to live in Spain.
The source said: There was constant speculation that she was influencing his football career but it just wasnt true.
Ronaldos mum Dolores has always been against the match.

A family friend said: Dolores thinks Nereida is just after her sons money. It is understood Dolores was unhappy with topless modelling shots of Nereida.

The split will be a blow to Nereidas dream to be a top football WAG. A pal said: She is devastated. She talked of herself as the new VICTORIA BECKHAM.
