Mischa Barton in Finding t.A.T.u.
The Russian movie that Mischa Barton has been cast to is called "Finding t.A.T.u.", and will be released this October. In fact, Mischa Barton is right now in Russia filming it.
Actress Mischa Barton is currently brushing up on her Russian in preparation for her starring role in the forthcoming t.A.T.u. movie.
Thats the same Russian faux-lesbian poptarts who had a hit with All The Things She Said a few years back.
The film, which also stars the t.A.T.u girls as themselves, has an intriguing storyline.
According to Wikipedia, The story is about two girls, Janie Sawyer (an American girl from New York, living in Moscow) and Lana (a Russian native), who become obsessed with t.A.T.u.
They become best friends, with crushes on each other, and attend a t.A.T.u. concert. While in Moscow, Janie develops a drug problem. The girls at some point end up killing one of their mothers.
Despite its trashy credentials, Mischa seems to be taking the role seriously, to the extent that shes attempting to teach herself Russian.
Apparently shes driving her friends mad by constantly listening to a Russian language CD.
She says, "Any spare time I get, I put a Russian CD on. All I need to do is get a Russian accent but Im fascinated by Russia." [Entertainment Wise]
"Finding t.A.T.u." is based on the book "t.A.T.u. Come Back" by Aleksey Mitrofanov. The cast is mainly American and the film will indeed be released in the US under an English director, Roland Joffé.
Mischa Barton and Danielle Panabaker will play the two leading roles; Igor Desyatnikov, Olesya Sudzilovskaya, and even Sting may make appearances in the film.
