Abstract:


An entire radio transceiver can be completely integrated into one IC chip. In order to integrate the IF filters on the chip, a heterodyne architecture with a low IF is used. A single, directly modulated VCO is used for both up-conversion during transmission, and down-conversion during reception. Bond-wires are used as resonators in the oscillator tank for the VCO. A TDD scheme is used in the air interface to eliminate cross-talk or leakage. A Gaussian-shaped binary FSK modulation scheme is used to provide a number of other implementation advantages.

1. Technical Field of the Invention

The present invention relates in general to the wireless communications field and, in particular, to a short-range radio transceiver fabricated on an integrated circuit chip.

2. Description of Related Art

The high level of circuit integration possible with modern technology has allowed manufacturers of hand-held communications equipment (e.g., cellular phones) to substantially reduce the size of their products. As a general rule, these smaller products consume less power and ultimately become cheaper to produce.

In the past, there have been a number of attempts to fabricate an entire radio transmitter/receiver (transceiver) on a single integrated circuit (IC) chip. Generally, these attempts have been unsuccessful, and only parts of such radios have been placed on a single chip. For example, U.S. Pat. A system and method for processing signals in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The method may include transmitting a wireless signal from a transmitter, and receiving at the transmitter, feedback information from a receiver that receives the transmitted wireless signal. The received feedback information may include one or more of a plurality of weight values corresponding to a maximum signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) value that is determined from a plurality of SINR values. The receiver may generate the plurality of SINR values from the received transmitted wireless signal based on the corresponding plurality of weight values. The feedback information that includes the one or more of the plurality of weight values may be received by the transmitter via one or more uplink communication channels. A signal equalizer for compensating impairments of an optical signal received through a link of a high speed optical communications network. At least one set of compensation vectors are computed for compensating at least two distinct types of impairments. A frequency domain processor is coupled to receive respective raw multi-bit in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) sample streams of each received polarization of the optical signal. The frequency domain processor operates to digitally process the multi-bit sample streams, using the compensation vectors, to generate multi-bit estimates of symbols modulated onto each transmitted polarization of the optical signal. The frequency domain processor exhibits respective different responses to each one of the at least two distinct types of impairments.

The present invention relates to a technique for controlling an amount of light emitted from a light emission device of an image pickup apparatus.

2. Description of the Related Art

Conventionally, there has been known a technique for controlling amounts of light emitted from flash devices during photographing using a master flash device directly coupled to a camera and at least one slave flash device disposed apart from the master flash device (see, Japanese Laid-open Patent Publication No. 2000-89307).

In this technique, unidirectional communication from the master flash device to the slave flash device is used for control of light emission.

Therefore, even if the slave flash device cannot emit the amount of light requested by the master flash device at multiple flash photographing, the master flash device cannot recognize that fact. As a result, photographing cannot be performed at light amount ratios between the flash devices set by the user, making it difficult to obtain a picked-up image intended by the user.

A drop sensor detects a drop of a device. When the drop of the device is detected, a sub CPU allows a counter to count a drop time. When the device drops for a predetermined time or more, the sub CPU controls a regulator so that the regulator forcibly disconnects an electric power to be supplied to a hard disc, and writes a drop occurrence flag into a nonvolatile memory. When the power supply is again turned on, a main CPU allows a display section to display information indicating that the power supply is disconnected due to the drop of the device.

This invention relates generally to optical signals for an integrated circuit, and more particularly to semiconductor chips having built-in circuits for converting optical clock signals to electrical clock signals.

BACKGROUND

Clock signals are essential to the operation of modern integrated circuits, in which the operations are synchronized by clock signals, which often contains a repeated pattern of “1010.” To speed up the integrated circuits, the clock signals have to be speed up. Currently, the clock signals have the frequencies in giga hertz (GHz) ranges. It is expected that by year 2010, the clock signals will be in the range of about 15 to 20 GHz. In this range, the electrical signal begins to merge with optical signals.

With the increase in the frequencies of clock signals, more heat is generated by the clock signal circuits, for example, flip-flops. Significantly greater power consumption and more severe heat-dissipating problems are hence resulted. With the increased heating and increased frequencies, glitches and jitters also become more severe, hence preventing the further increase in the frequencies of clock signals. Various methods (U.S. Patent Publication Nos. 2005/0145783, 2005/0223683, and 2003/0094699) have been explored to introduce optical clock signals into semiconductor chips, and converting the optical clock signals in the semiconductor chips to electrical clock signals. Abstract:


A method for digitally magnifying images applied to an electronic device includes the steps of: reading in a preview image inputted into the electronic device; executing a 2-fold image magnifying process to the preview image; executing a fuzziness removing process to the preview image; segmenting the preview image into a background area and a text area, executing a correspondingly text strengthening process to the text area; and determining if the preview image is magnified up to a predetermined amplification factor; if yes, outputting the preview image after being magnified to a display screen for displaying the preview image; and otherwise, going back to re-execute the 2-fold image magnifying process to the magnified preview image, and then executing the fuzziness removing process and the text strengthening process, in order to generate the preview image magnified about 4-fold or more.

Abstract:


A video processing system may implement a video scaling algorithm using interpolation based on polyphase filtering. A video or graphics scaler may be utilized to scale luma, chroma, and/or alpha information in a video image. The scaler may comprise a first polyphase sub-filtering with zero phase shift that generates an in-phase filtered output from an input video image and a second polyphase sub-filtering that generates an out-of-phase filtered output from the input video image. The video scaler may also comprise an interpolator that may generate a scaled video image based on the generated in-phase and out-of-phase filtered outputs and a scaling factor. The scaling factor may be determined based on an input video size (M) and a desired output video size (N). The interpolation of the generated in-phase and out-of-phase filtered outputs in the video scaler may be implemented by utilizing a Farrow structure.
