Abstract:


A method of programming a multi-layer chalcogenide electronic device. The device includes an active region in electrical communication with two terminals, where the active region includes two or more layers. The method includes providing an electrical signal between the two terminals, where the electrical signal alters an electrical characteristic of a layer remote from one of the terminals. In one embodiment, the layer remote from the terminal is a chalcogenide material and the electrical characteristic is resistance. In another embodiment, an electrical characteristic of the layer in contact with the terminal is also altered. The alteration of an electrical characteristic may be caused by a transformation of a chalcogenide material from one structural state to another structural state.

This invention pertains to chalcogenide devices materials having applications as electrical and optical memories and switches. More particularly, this invention relates to chalcogenide devices having an improved interface between the chalcogenide material and an electrical contact. Most particularly, this invention is concerned with a multi-layer material structure that provides chalcogenide devices having better conditioning characteristics, high reset resistance, reduced programming current, low set resistance, and/or high set speeds.

In general, in one aspect, the invention relates to a method for delivering a controlled voltage. The method involves, during a first electric pulse delivered to a primary transformer, holding a first switching section open to isolate the controlled voltage, where the first electric pulse creates a first magnetic flux in a core of the primary transformer, and where the first magnetic flux generates a direct current (DC) magnetizing current. The method further involves receiving the controlled voltage from a voltage source using the DC magnetizing current at a first switching section, and upon termination of the first electric pulse, closing the first switching section to deliver the controlled voltage to the primary transformer.

Transformers, inverters, converters, and similar charge transfer devices with solid state technology are used to offer reduced size and increased efficiency compared to more traditional charge transfer devices. With traditional configurations of a charge transfer device, there is symmetry. In other words, there is an electrical push-pull, alternating between each electric pulse delivered by the primary side of the charge transfer device, where the magnetic flux in the core of the charge transfer device (e.g., a transformer) alternates between a positive component and a negative component. An electronic device structure includes an upper case, a lower case, a main board, a suspending member, and a fixing member. The upper case and the lower case respectively have an upper combining column and a lower combining column. The main board has a through hole, the upper combining column passes through the through hole, and a size of the through hole is larger than a size of the upper combining column, such that a moving gap is kept between the upper combining column and the through hole. The suspending member is combined with a side of the main board and spaced with the main board by a suspending distance. The present invention provides several scalable integrated circuit high density capacitors and their layout techniques. The capacitors are scaled, for example, by varying the number of metal layers and/or the area of the metal layers used to form the capacitors. This application is directed, in general, to an integrated circuit (IC) and, more specifically, employing an IC to respond to monitored events.

BACKGROUND

Some conventional microprocessors have an included functionality, an interrupt functionality, which may be used to stop normal processing and perform a special task in a timely manner. In some instances the special task is a protection function. With the interrupt functionality, a microprocessor is programmed to fetch a set of instructions when receiving an external signal at a designated input pin and generate a signal on a designated output pin to stop or interrupt the potentially harmful condition. One skilled in the art will understand the interrupt functionality that is provided with some conventional microprocessors.

Some microprocessors do not include the interrupt functionality due to, for example, the additional cost. As such, lower cost microprocessors may be programmed to poll for certain conditions to determine if an interrupting function is needed. The response time associated with such polling, however, can be slower than desired.

Abstract:


A Lorentz magnetoresistive sensor that employs a gating voltage to control the momentum of charge carriers in a quantum well structure. A gate electrode can be formed at the top of the sensor structure to apply a gate voltage. The application of the gate voltage reduces the momentum of the charge carriers, which makes their movement more easily altered by the presence of a magnetic field, thereby increasing the sensitivity of the sensor.

The present invention relates to a magnetic head or magnetic disk testing apparatus(an Inspection Apparatus and inspection method of magnetic disk or magnetic head). More particularly, the present invention relates to a technique for accurately detecting the amplitude of servo (hereinafter referred to as burst data) signals to provide accurate positioning of a magnetic head.

A magnetic head or magnetic disk testing apparatus is configured to determine the quality or other aspects of a magnetic head or a magnetic disk, by locating the magnetic head above the magnetic disk, writing and reading test data through the magnetic head on a target track, and measuring the characteristics of a signal read from the target track. Heretofore, servo control has been performed for accurately positioning the magnetic head on a target track of the magnetic disk.

To achieve the above, several techniques have been proposed, such as those described in JP-A No. 141807/1995 and JP-A No. 242152/2007. The technique of JP-A No. 141807/1995 is configured to transmit an amplitude detection signal of burst data through a band-pass filter, an analog to digital conversion circuit, and a digital filter. In an imaging lens, one compound lens and two single lenses are arranged in a lens barrel. On the light output side of the lens barrel, a filter is arranged with a distance from lens barrel. With a further distance from the filter, an imaging element is arranged. In the compound lens, a resin lens is bonded to a base member lens, having an output surface center of the resin lens displaced by a prescribed amount relative to an output surface center of the base member lens, so that a transmission decentration amount attributed to the base member lens, not including the resin lens, and the single lenses is cancelled by a transmission decentration amount by the resin lens when taken as a whole lens system. Thus, the imaging lens capable of suppressing reduction in resolving power due to transmission decentration of the lenses is obtained.

The rear sight includes an optical element having a first focal length and a second focal length. The first focal length is selected so that it is about equal to a distance separating the optical element and the front sight and the second focal length is selected so that it is about equal to a target distance. The optical element thus brings into simultaneous focus, for a user, images of the front sight and the target.

This invention relates to sighting optics in general and, more specifically, to sighting systems for weapons.

BACKGROUND

Many different types of sighting systems are known in the art and are used to assist in the aiming of a variety of devices, typically those used to launch projectiles, such as firearms and bows, although they are used in other applications as well. Perhaps the simplest and most rugged type of sighting system is the so-called “iron sight,” which refers to the open, unmagnified aiming system typically used on firearms. An iron sight usually comprises a front sight and a rear sight. The front sight may take the form of a post, bead, or ring-shaped structure, whereas the rear sight may take the form of a notch or aperture. The rear sight is often made adjustable to allow the user to more easily compensate for windage or elevation, although in some applications the front sight is also adjustable.

Abstract:


A microscope comprising a main objective having a variable focal length and comprising an illuminating unit including a light source and an illuminating optical system for generating an illuminating beam path directed onto the object plane and extending outside the main objective. A unit is provided for centering the illumination dependent on a variation of the focal length of the main objective, and the illuminating optical system is mounted at least in part in a laterally shiftable manner for centering the illumination. In particular, the illuminating optical system has a diaphragm that is mounted in a laterally shiftable manner.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a microscope comprising a main objective having a variable focal length and comprising an illuminating unit including a light source and an illuminating optical system for generating an illuminating beam path directed onto an object plane and extending outside the main objective, means being provided for centering the illumination dependent on a variation of the focal length of the main objective.
