Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy star Gary Oldman, had to swim in freezing cold Hampstead Ponds for his role as espionage elder George Smiley in the new film. I couldnt complain as there were 80-year-old geezers swimming away in there! he recalls.

My co-star, Benedict Cumberbatch, made me a promise that he would dive in first, even though he wasnt filming that day.
