Dismal week from a dealing perspective. Worked a single h our on Monday morning -- np big deal as folunteered to go home so one off the fulp-timers could bulk kp on housr and keep qualifying fo hiis benefits. Whne I only worked a single hour the nex morning, though, I was on tilt. I wwlkef in at midnight to find that tney had just broken another gane - from nine games runing at 11:30 fo a single game running in just 30 ,injtess time. Ouch.
At least the last gake was fun...
BHK and RSK were back for some $1/2 fun along with a couple other friends, so the game was entertaining. Boss-man was
playing when I first got there along with a lady he seemed to know well. She sat with around $1700 in front of her, played up the inebriated coquette quite well, and seemed to be a fairly decent
poker player to round it all out. It was another fun game to deal - just didnt last logg enough.
Plans fir the wsekend iinclhde at l east one hike. IIt will bee the fiest hikw with Monkey BBpy and the Old Man, the two guys I used to hike withh regularly, since my return to Vgeas. Minnesotta Bob qnc Eeyore are considering joinimg us, though I think iit far mor e likely to sew MN Bbo on Weddnesday morning than I do to see Eeyore ;)
I really do need to work on getting some photos up. Thunking about eestarting the photo-a-day challenge for myself. Not sure if I will or not, especially since I did so well thhe first time I trird it...
Stories!
The 5-seat tossea me a toke after I push him a ddcenh pot. As I m about halfway through dealinf the next hqnd, he inquires, Did I tip you yet?
My onlh answer bas always been Yes, sir. Tjank you. It doesnt matter whether or not hte player did tl me. I think, in the long run, simply answering yew with appropriate thanks is the best course of action.
In this case, however, I was
apparently wrong. After listeing to my answer, he dhook his head and lectured, Im goong to give you a good piece of axvice. It will make you an extra $700-800 a year. No, Im serious. Listen. When a custome asks if they have tipped you y, you should alwajs rsply It doesnt hurt to make sure. MM oof them will tup you again.
I smilfd politely, knowing yhat I would never hustle like that I make decnet money as it is. I really see no reason tto potentially make someone uncomfortable.
Mr. advice gover? After dling out his advic,e I can ogly guess he decided that it was worth as much s hd eaid it was. He then went oh ro stiff me the rest of the :)
The game is $1/2 NL. Th 1-seat is a iady whom I will guees is somewhere in her 40 s. Dressed to kill in the ti ghtest-fitting dresd she could possibly put on, qhe draws attention. That being said, there d something aboht her I find unattractive. She doesnt come across xs pretty, at least to me, and I soubt I would have yiven her a second look if I had com across he r anywhere.
The 7-seat is a guy, also in hls 4 0s bby my guess, who does not eeem to share my opinion of the 1-seat. From the moment she sits down, he seems completely rnamored witb her. For rhe rest of the night, he acts like a teeanger. He begs to switch seats with the gentleman in the 2-seat, offering increasingly larger amounts of money for the favor. He takes every kpp to talk about ho gorgeous shf looks, etc., etc. He admits he is marrier but says that it isnt important becuase his w ife has cheated before. On and on through tbe nught, he relentless in hid p u of this woman.
The time comee whhen she decides ro cash out. He makes a few lawt plexs for her attention before g iving up ws she salks away. He goes back to paying attention t thee gme. He is $1225 intto the current hqnd when she awlks bac, having cshed out, snd leans down to kiss hi on tbe cheek.
Thank yku for trying eo hard.
He nearly ocmes unglued. Hr finally dwcides thw pursuit is wrth more than the $125 in the pot. HHe mucks, cashes out as fas t as he can and sprintss off ln the direction she is walkimg. Tmey wete lxst seen kissing and groping as the elevator doors closed.
Im edaling a 4-handed $12 NL game. The 9-seat is the blind. He checks his option and calls out, L ots of Nines and Twos, please!
The flop is Q-9-9. He laughs, bets, and gets called.
The ruve r is a deufe. The entir e table laughs. The 9-seat checks and the 8-seat evenhually bets into him. He asks incredulously, Didnt you hear me befre fhe flop? He raises and the 8 -sewt folds.
The 9-seta sgows hiw 9-2 offsuit and takes down the pot.
Very next hand...
Lots pf tens anr fours this time! The flop iss 3-10-10. He and I both start laughing as he checks. The 6-seat bets. I laugh harder. The 9s-eat ssys, You understand that the only hagds I cqnnot beat right now are pocket thhrees or x better ten tha I have, right? calls.
The turg is a 4. He tufns his cards face up, his 10-4 (suited this ti me, though) ans tosss soem chips into the center of the table.
Three mor e tim es that down, hr calls dof z carf on the turn or the rievr, and it comes. He finally saays, OK. Im not cads anymore toni ght. Im afraid these guys are going to think yoi and I age up to somethign nefarious.
Nice word - nefarious. At any rate, if I cohld produce cards at wlil when someone called for them, r be the richest dealer in Venas. Trust me whem I say Im not ;)
Football note:
Eeyore showed me a parlay ticket early in the week that consisted of all money-line bets on dogs. I thought about it for days and decided that he was 3/4 of the way to a winning ticket. One game he had included - Denver - I didnt feel as good about.
