love or habit

BE MINE

From the very first moment I saw you
That's when I knew
All the dreams I held in my heart
Had suddenly come true
Knock me over stone cold sober
Not a thing I could say or do
Cause baby when I'm walking with you now
My eyes are so wide
Like you reached right into my head
And turned on the light inside
Turning on the light
Inside my mind... yea...

Come on baby it's all right
Sunday, Monday, day or night
Written blue on white, it's plain to see

Be mine, be mine!
Rainy, shiny, night or day
What's the difference anyway
Honey 'til your heart belongs to me

If I had some influence, girl
With the powers that be
I'd have them fire that arrow at you
Like they fired it right at me
Maybe when your heart and soul are burning
You might see
That every time I'm talking with you
It's always over too soon
That every day feels so incomplete
'Til you walk into the room
Say the word now, girl
I'll jump that moon... yea...

Come on baby it's OK
Rainy, shiny, night or day
There's nothing in the way now
Don't you see

Be mine, be mine!
Winter, summer, day or night
Centigrade or Fahrenheit
Baby 'til your heart belongs to me

Be Mine, Be mine
Thursday, Friday, short or long
When you got a love so strong
How can it be wrong now? Mercy me

Be Mine, Be mine
Jumpin' Jesus, holy cow!
What's the difference anyhow
Baby 'til your heart belongs to me

On fire, my body's on fire, my body's on fire,
My body's on fire, now run to my side, mmm mmm
Be Mine, be mine

The art of getting off your ass
What do you think is the single most important element to getting things done, living the life you want, and accomplishing goals? It’s ACTION. It’s getting off your ass and going for it!

You can dream, you can talk, and you can plan; but nothing is going to happen until you take that first step. It’s the difference between a sayer and a doer. It’s the difference between change and remaining the same. And most importantly it’s the difference between living your life the way you want and being forced to live it in another way.

Firstly, you need to throw out the many misconceptions that you’ve grown to believe over the years.

Secrets – There are absolutely no secrets that pertain to accomplishing goals, achieving success, or living the life you desire. You know that it takes persistence, patience, hard work, positivity, passion, and focus. Most people just want to deny this fact and rather pursue finding the easy way out.

Time – Time can be very discouraging and can create its own misconceptions. There’s always seemingly overnight success stories that make people believe they can take one step toward success and the next day they’ll be rich and famous. But these stories leave out the parts about all the frustrations and the hard work that went into the successful result. They leave it out because no one wants to read it.

The other common misconception relating to time is that accomplishing goals and change takes a long time. It may seem like a contradiction to what was just stated. It doesn’t happen over night but it needn’t take long either.

Money – I’ve said it a thousand times and I’ll keep saying it: you do not need a lot of money to turn your dreams into reality and become successful.

Now that you’ve relinquished yourself of the biggest misconceptions, let’s talk about you getting off your ass.

Questions to ask yourself and answer:
What’s preventing me from taking action? Is it fear? Embarrassment?
Is it physically holding me down?
Who created these barriers?
After you’ve asked yourself these questions; you’ve probably come to an interesting conclusion. YOU are the one preventing yourself from getting off your behind. It’s the fear you’ve created and it’s the embarrassment you think you’ll have to endure. Almost none of these barriers are physically present; you’re just imagining them in your head.

You are your greatest enemy
You are the one who is your toughest critic; your biggest competition; and your greatest enemy. Right now this is preventing you from taking action but once you get going, it’ll beneficial for improving yourself.

Here are some tips that will help you get off your ass and onto your feet.

Figure out what you want to do now; not what you want to do forever
Young people are constantly asked what they want to do with the rest of their lives. Most of them don’t have a single clue; and that’s just fine. A lot of older people don’t either. Our passions and pursuits are always evolving. But to get yourself off your ass now; you need to know what you want to do now.

Perhaps you want to become healthier, go traveling, or become a social entrepreneur. You might not want to do it when your 80 years old but you’re willing and able to do it now.

Stop wishing you could go back in time
Each of us has wished we could go back in time so that we could either start over or strike while the iron was hot. I have wished this with Lyved. If I had started this blog back in 2004 when blogs were just taking off, this site would already be a full time business. I was too busy chasing the get-rich-quick ideas. Thankfully this thought didn’t cross my mind on launch day. It would have certainly have discouraged me and kept me wishing and wasting energy on the shoulda’s, coulda’s, and woulda’s.

You can’t go back in time, but the next best thing is now. To get ahead tomorrow, you need to start today. The clock is ticking.

Tick… tock…

Quit the moanin’, groanin’ and complainin’
You’re wasting so much time complaining that you don’t have any money, life’s unfair, and that you’re unlucky. If you took some of the effort it takes to complain and put it towards something good, you’d be amazed at the results.

I’m sorry to say it but no one really cares what you’re complaining about. If you want something done, you MUST do it yourself.

Tick… tock… The clock hands are still moving.

Turn your frustrations into something beneficial
If you’re complaining then something is frustrating you. The best thing to do is use that frustration to empower you. Difficult times and circumstances can either force someone to give up, if they’re weak; or for the strong, it’ll fuel their fire.

A few things to remember:
No one is going to rescue you; not even the government.
YOU are the one who is preventing you from success. And you hold the key to living the life you desire. You just have to unlock the door.
The clock is ticking. Tick… tock…
The G.O.Y.A. (getting off your ass) Checklist
Before you can get off your ass and onto your feet, there are a few requirements necessary to do so. They aren’t difficult, and anyone can find them; no matter what age, race, or how much you have in your bank account.

Think and grow like an Olympian
They possess physical and mental abilities as well as strengths unlike any other human beings. They are Olympians; the greatest athletes in the world. They became so; not by luck, not by genes, but by hard work and determination. Much can be learned from these athletes to help us achieve greatness in both our personal and business lives.

Know what you want
Even before these athletes enter into an Olympic trial, they know what they want. They want to win a medal and stand on that podium with it around their neck. But not just any medal, the gold medal. Very few Olympians strive to win the bronze. Before you set out on your journey, figure out exactly what you want. Don’t be afraid to dream big. Make your goals harder to achieve and you’ll achieve amazing results.

Know how you’re going to get there
Olympians know that they’ll have to train everyday for months at a time to prepare. They also know this means they’ll have to get up before the sun does to stay one step ahead of their competitors. You’ll have to do the same. Write down a daily plan of action. Look at it every day to keep you moving towards your goals. Sometimes you’ll also want to be very specific with your plans. Olympians know how many laps in the pool they’ll have to do or how many baskets they’ll have to make before they can rest.

Self-discipline is crucial
When they aren’t exercising, Olympians still need to remain in training mode. They have to eat better and they can’t abuse their bodies in any way. This is where their self-discipline becomes so necessary. Their trainers can’t be with them all the time, nor should they. You are going to need every ounce of self-discipline you have. The road to success can be lonely at times with very few people encouraging you along the way.

Sacrifices are mandatory
Olympians sacrifice free time, family time, and even miss work for their training. You’re going to have to do the same. There will be times when you’ll lose a few hours of sleep or have to skip a meal or two. If you want to achieve your goals, it’ll be worth it.

Repetition = practice; practice makes nearly perfect
Nothing is perfect in life, but practice gets you almost to it. Olympic swimmers swim lap after lap, Olympic runners run lap after lap. You have to stick with it when chasing success; and that often means doing the same things over and over. Each time you get knocked down, you’ve got to get back up. And each time you do get up, you’ll be stronger than the last.

Be your toughest critic
Olympic athletes are rarely satisfied with their best times or best scores. They know they can do even better, despite their trainers and others praising them. You know yourself best, so why not be your toughest critic? You’re aware of your strengths and capabilities so you know when you can be doing more. However, be sure to never berate yourself, only use your criticism to encourage yourself.

Capitalize and diversify
Success breeds more success. Most of the famous Olympic athletes capitalize on their success and move into other projects. They do sponsorships, camps, TV shows, anything you can think of. Once you achieve one of your goals, try something new, it’ll challenge you and keep your life exciting.

Celebrate, and then get back to work
Olympic athletes celebrate in Olympic fashion, but it doesn’t last for long. These athletes begin preparing for their next competitions or for the next Olympics. You should celebrate and enjoy your successes both big and small; but you shouldn’t be totally content. Create new goals for you to begin tackling.

When to modify goals

It’s never good to quit on a goal but there are times when it is necessary to modify them. You can drastically change a goal or you can modify only certain aspects and keep the main objective intact.

So let’s begin with situations where modifying a goal is probably your best bet.

Your goal is too small
The worst goals you can make for yourself are ones that are way too small and too easily achievable. Say you have a goal of earning some extra money, perhaps $10,000. Now don’t be easy on yourself and say you want to achieve it in a year. Put a little positive pressure and make the goal within six months. Remember: small goals create small results.

Your goals are hurting someone
Whether mentally or physically, if your goal is hurting someone you know or even a stranger, you’ll want to modify your goal. You don’t want to burn bridges or cause pain in someone just for the sake of achieving something. If you did, it would be a very selfish act.

When you grow bored
If you become bored with a goal then you definitely need to modify it. They are your goals, how can you become bored of them? It might mean that you’re not that passionate about the goal. Without passion, there will be no success.

So if you’ve decided that you want to modify a goal or two, there are good ways and bad ways to go about doing so. Here are some good ways:

New approaches
Your main, big goal may not need any changes but the little goals along the way perhaps do. Each step is a goal in and of itself, right? So before giving up or changing a main goal, look at the plan and each baby step. Your problems may lie there. You can adjust time frames, remove steps, or add in some more.

More defined goals
You have to know where you want to go. If one of your goals consists of “earning a lot of money” then you should modify it. Think of the exact amount you want. Perhaps $1 million or $20 million. This keeps you focused and excited. Another way it to add time frames as I stated above. Put an exact date of when you want to have already achieved a goal by.

As you can see it is not always bad to modify your goals. So don’t worry as long as your main goal or goals stay in your mind and heart.

A guide to not taking “no” for an answer

We’ve all had those situations in which we wanted to hear someone say “yes” but we got a “no” instead. Most leave it at that but you shouldn’t, it’s not the end.

Here is what you can do to change a “no” into a “maybe,” “okay,” or a “yes.”

Prepare for a “no”
You should definitely be optimistic and expect a “yes” but also have a plan B ready if you do get a “no.” Sometimes there are small windows of opportunity seconds or minutes after a no is said that you don’t want to miss. Without a plan B, you most certainly will.

Keep the conversation alive
This also has to do with having a backup plan. You don’t want the conversation to go “cold,” and the person to quickly lose interest. It is best to respond to a “no” within anywhere from 30 seconds to a week. A longer than that and most people have already moved on.

Compromise
Find out why the person said “no” and see what they wanted you to say, do, or offer instead. Don’t give up what you want, but find a middle ground so that both of your needs are met.

Get the door slightly opened
With a compromise you’ll most likely turn a “no” into a “maybe” or an “I’ll think about it.” Once the door is slightly opened get your foot in there to keep it from closing. This is also a good time to keep the conversation alive. Ask a few more questions and some feedback from the person.

Indicate the pros for saying “yes”
Tell the no-sayer about all the positive things they will get from saying “yes” to you. In some instances there are selling points that people can’t see and you need to make them aware of those points.

Persist
Even if you’re trying to keep the conversation alive and the person isn’t responding to you, keep going. Write letters, send emails, or call her/him as often as you can without annoying or stalking them. Just like the rest of your journey to success you can’t give up. If you keep messaging them long enough, they are eventually going to respond to you. It may not be a positive response but at least you can know what you next step should be.

Once you get a “maybe,” “okay,” or a “yes” it still isn’t a done deal. You need to keep that “yes” from turning back into a “no.”

Reiterate the positives
Remind the person of all the great reasons why they said “yes” to you or your project.

Stay excited and enthusiastic
You can’t lose enthusiasm in yourself, the project, or whatever was given the yes. You will always be the one who is behind the project the most, so if you lose the excitement everyone else will follow.

Deliver
You must deliver on all the positives and promises you mentioned when it was still a no. If you can’t then that no could turn into something much angrier or it could turn into complete silence.

Be thankful
Be very thankful that the person gave you a “yes.” If this is a big deal, it could be the one chance that changes your life forever

How to turn failure into success

“The great question is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with failure.”
-Chinese Proverb

Before you can succeed, you need to fail. You should expect it and accept it. Failure can breed new opportunities and new knowledge for you. So why wouldn’t you want to fail? You can either let failure prevent you from moving forward or you can utilize it to propel you to more success than you ever imagined. Which would you rather do? If you’re on this site, I would hope it’s the latter.

To help you turn failure into success, here are some things I’ve found that have worked.

Learn

Knowledge is the most valuable thing you can acquire from failure. What you learn cannot be taught in any school or by anyone. You must experience it yourself. Too many times, people shut out their failures when they should be examining them and keeping their failures in mind.

Here are some ways to maximize your learning potential:

~ Keep a timeline – Write down when you failed along with your successes.

~ Discover why you failed – Was your failure because of a lack of resources or because a lack of motivation?

~ What could you’ve done – Figure out what you could’ve done better or maybe didn’t need to do.

~ Get someone else’s opinion – Ask a friend or someone else, why they think you failed or what they saw wrong with your project and/or effort.

Get motivated

Failure is one of the greatest motivators. When you taste failure, you never want to taste it again. You also want to show yourself and others that you can succeed.

Here are a few ways to use failure to get motivated:

~ Think of even larger goals to achieve. Maybe your failed goals were too small and you failed for a reason.

~ Refresh your memory as to why you want to succeed. What do you desire and need to live the life you want?

~ Remember that other great achievers have failed as well. Failure was a key step to their success.

Adapt

After you have learned some priceless lessons from your failures it’s time to modify and adapt your plans and goals. Sometimes failures destroy your whole plans and require you to restart from scratch. Other times all you need to do is rethink your plans.

Here are some things you can do to adapt from failure:

~ Change time frames – Perhaps reaching your goals will take longer or less time than you first expected.

~ Move your plans around – You may want to move around items listed on your plans to tackle something first or later on.

~ Change approaches – Maybe you failed at an effort because your approach was wrong. Modify your approach and try again.

Spot opportunities

Failure can bring a whole new realm of opportunities to you. If you succeeded, you could have missed even bigger chances and opportunities.

Here are a few ways you can spot opportunities after failing:

~ If a business endeavor failed perhaps there wasn’t a demand for your product or service. Find out why people passed on your business and see what they really wanted. A whole new market could lie within those findings.

~ Capitalize on your failure by teaching others. Maybe you can help other people by preventing them from making the same mistakes you did. You can do so by writing a book, blogging, and maybe even by giving seminars.

~ Even in a failed endeavor, there’s a way you can make great contacts and friends. Use those contacts to move onto another project.

Those were just a few ways to turn failure into success. Never, ever, consider failing as the end, it’s only the beginning and a necessary step before you can reach the top. Once you’ve felt failure, you’ll appreciate success a 100 times more.

Seven, stupid, simple ways to be green and save green

Buying an eco-friendly car or outfitting your house with solar panels and the latest green tech can be costly and time consuming. Perhaps this is why many are reluctant to go green. However you can be green today with these seven simple ways. Some may seem stupid but they are often overlooked for that reason.

1. Don’t turn your faucet on until you’re ready
This is an interesting habit many of us have. When we want to rinse our toothbrush or fill something with water, we turn on the faucet before the brush or cup is under the water. Think of how many times this is done and how much water is lost over time. It adds up. Hold your cup or toothbrush under the faucet before turning it on and turn off the faucet before moving anything.

2. Take it easy when driving
One of the best ways to save some gas is just to be more relaxed. No tailgating or pushing the petal to the metal. It’ll keep your blood pressure down as well. Also if you’re driving downhill, let your vehicle coast and when you’re coming to a stop don’t slam on your brakes, slowly reduce your speed.

3. Have a dehumidifier? Use the water
It gets very humid in basements during the summer, so you might have a dehumidifier to take the moisture out of the air. Don’t toss the water that fills up the bucket out the window, use it. You can water your flowers and plants. Perhaps you can even use the water to fill a bucket for suds to clean your car.

4. Reuse trash bags
Obviously you can’t do this with your kitchen garbage but you might be able to reuse your bathroom’s trash bag. Most bathrooms have a small can that you throw paper waste in. Well dump that waste into your kitchen garbage and save the smaller bag.

5. Attach funnels to your watering cans
If you’re a gardener, place your watering cans out in the open with some type of funnel in the can’s opening. Then when a rainstorm comes the funnels will catch the raindrops and fill the can.

6. Take the time to start tissue and paper towel rolls
This might seem stupid but when you’re the first one to use a new roll of paper towels or toilet paper, you know what I’m talking about. It always seems impossible to use the first piece of the roll. It always get ripped and shredded, and sometimes if you keep pulling it tears through 5 more sheets. The next time you have to start a roll, relax, breath, and take your time to save that first sheet.

7. Water plant roots, not leaves and flowers
You’d be surprised at how many people don’t understand this. You have to water the plant’s roots, not the leaves and/or flowers. A large percentage of water will evaporate off the leaves and flowers, without the plant getting what it needs. Because of this your plants will probably die. Make sure to water the base of the plant to reduce evaporation.

There are plenty more ways that you can be green. It doesn’t take much and after you practice new ways over and over, they’ll eventually become habits for you.

7 habits of really happy people

7 habits of really happy people
We all know that person. The one who is always laughing, crackin’ jokes, having fun, and just being happy, no matter what’s going on.

Everyone is attracted to them, and perhaps you want to be like them. But maybe you think it’s impossible to always be happy. However, you most certainly can be happy like them and you SHOULD be happy like them.

They are no special secrets to how these people can have so much joy. They don’t possess anything that you don’t have. The only thing they do is practice habits that make them happy.

So here are seven habits that can be found in people who are always really happy. If you can practice these and turn them into habits you’ll be just as happy as them.

1. Don’t care what others think
They don’t care what others think or have to say. If they did, they wouldn’t let themselves free and be happy because of the possibility of scrutiny.

Really happy people also never let negative people and their attitudes get to them. Whatever the negative people say or do just rolls off the backs of the happy people.

2. Always looking at the bright side of things
No matter what situations are thrown at a happy person, they look for the bright side. Everything that is negative has a positive side to it. Negativity wouldn’t exist without positivity. Happy people know this and have practiced looking for the bright side so much that now it has become a habit. And even if a happy person can’t find the bright side of something, they’ll create it.

3. Being friendly
Happy people are always looking to make friends. They don’t care what you look like or what background you come from, they just want someone new to laugh and be happy with. And by default happy people are friendly; everyone wants to be happy as well and are drawn to them.

If you know a friendly person who is always making fun of others to bring them down, then they aren’t truly happy person. There’s something inside of them that they are insecure about.

4. Laugh & Smile
This habit goes along with being friendly. I have NEVER seen a happy person not smile or laugh. It just isn’t physically possible. However, a really happy person smiles so much that they turned it into a habit. You might even see them smiling for no real reason, it’s that natural to them. Laughing is another mandatory habit of really happy people. If you or they aren’t laughing, then there’s no true happiness.

5. Live in the moment
Really happy people make the most of every minute and day they have. They aren’t going to wait to have fun; they’re going to create fun now.

6. Push aside their troubles
Even if a happy person can’t find or create the positive side of a situation, they do the next best thing, they push it aside. They forget about it and move on because they know it’s only temporary and they know they can make their troubles leave even sooner.

7. Laugh in the face of fear
Just like the rest of us, really happy people have fears. Most of the time they just don’t display it. Happy people make jokes to lighten the mood and to make others feel more relaxed so they will too.

Drunk drivers

I don’t understand how people can be so foolish and selfish to drive while they’re intoxicated. They’re too lazy to take a few minutes to call a cab or find a designated driver. They rather take the chance and change a life forever or kill someone

YOU ARE AU-PAIR

You know you're an Au Pair in the USA when... ...you always introduce yourself with : 'Hi! my name is (your name), I'm from (country) and I have (amount of children you are taking care of) children!! ...everybody is greeting you with a 'Hi.How are you!' and you can't respond fast enough, so you say it first! ...the worst thing is, when the dad is working from home ..you know what a S'MORE is. ...you spent all your money at the MALL and you still have nothing to wear ...you hate Dora, The Wiggles and Thomas ...you say silly instead of stupid ...you go to PLAYDATES ...you've seen more movies in one month than in your whole life at home ...you drive over 30 minutes to a friend and you think it's not far ...you only have other Au Pairs as your friends ...you can make bacon ..you say 'like' and 'totally' every three words ...someone has asked you stupid questions like: 'do you have cars in your country?' - 'Do you have Valentine's day?' - 'Where is your country?' Do you have lightenings back home?. Do you live in a stone house? ...you don't think it's wrong to have cake AND ice cream ...you park as close to the store as possible so you don't have to walk even one yard too far ...you cherish moments of silence more than ever before ...you notice yourself saying 'GOOD JOB' a hundred times a day!!! ...you wonder why you slept the whole night long so uncomfortable and you notice the next morning, you slept on a barbie, a lollypop, sandtoys etc. ... you need to be creative to find new punishments because a time-out doesn't work anymore ... you have to admit to mistakes you never did or put the blame on you day for day ...you're sure you don't want own kids within the next 100 years ...you know now exactly how difficult it was for your parents to have little kids and you feel like saying thanks for all you've done to your mum and dad every day ...you're ready to drink anytime of the day ...you start to love disney movies again and can copy every passage of them ...you've learned what it means to be patient ...you know what a LAR (Local area representative) is ...you know that you should never SHAKE A BABY!!! ...you take a nap, after you dropped of the kids at school (after being up for just 2h ) ..you are DRIVING to the busstop to pick up your kids, which is only 200 meters from your house. ...the kids call you mum cause you spend too much time with them ..... you think $160 every weekend just for shopping and coffee are not that much ... one cup of coffee doesn`t make you awake anymore, it just makes you alive. ...you miss the good ol' days when you were able to go to the bakery and get real bread w/ real butter!!! ...you don't walk into the bank, you use the drive inn to get your money ...you use Purell instead of washing your hands ...instead of singing songs from the radio you are singing children songs ..There is no way to go back to your country and the first thing you want to do is going to gym so you can actually lose all the extra pounds you gained from the American food!(BAGELS, PIZZA AND DONUTS!!!!).

LOVE

The Places You'll Go

Congratulation!
Today is your day.
you'r off to Great Place! You'r off abd away!
You have brain in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
You are on your own. And you know what you know. And you are the guy who'll decide where to go.
You'll look up or down streets. look 'em over with care.
about some you will say, "I dont choose to go there"
With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet, you're too smart to go down any not-so-god street.
and you may not find any
you'll want to go down.
In that case, of coerse, you'll head straight out of town.
it's opener there in the wide open air.
out there things can happen and frequently do to people as brainy nd footsy as you.
And when things star to happen, dont worry. dont strew
just go right along. you'll strt happening too.
oh! the Places yu'll go !!!
you'll be in your way up!
you'll be seeing great sights!
you'll join the fliers who soar to high heights.
you won't lag behind, because you'll have the speed.
you'll pass the whole gang and you'll soon take the lead.
wherever you fly, you'll be the of the best.
wherever you go , you will top all the rest.
Except when you dont.
because, sometimes,you wont.
I'm sorry to say so
but, sadly, it's true
that bang-ups
and hang-ups can happen to you.
you can get all hung up in a prickle-ly perch.
And your gang will fly on. You'll be left in a Lurch.
You'll come down from the Lurch
with an unpleasnt bump.
And the chances are, then, that you'll be n a Slump.
And when you are in a Slump, you're not in for much fun.
un-slumping yourself is not easly done.
you will come to a place where the streets are not marked.
Some windows are lighted. byt mostly they're darked.
A place you could sprain both your elbow and chin!
do you dare to stay out? Do you dare to go in?
How much can you lose? How much can you win?
And if you go in, should you turn left or right...
or -and - three- guarters? or, maybe not guite?
Or go around back and sneak in from behind?
simple it's, I'm afraid you will find,
for a mind-maker- upper to make up his mind.
You can get to confused
that you'll strt in to race down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace and grind on for miles across weirdish wild space,
headed, I fear, toward a most useless place.
The Waiting Place........
