C I R C U L A R
It has been observed that sometimes members of crew or Officers of Indian Ships indulge in swimming in port areas near the ship as a recreational activity. In a recent case, a Junior Engineer entered sea wearing the customary boilersuit.
This made swimming cumbersome, increased drag on the swimmer and led to drowing and subsequent death. The incident occurred at the port of Safi in Morocco.
Therefore all mariners are cautioned that swimming in open sea be avoided and that boilersuits should not be worn while swimming.
This should be brought to notice of all concerned.
