   Приятная новость: 12 мая 2011 г. на сцену O2 Arena в Лондоне во время очередного концерта Роджера Уотерса в рамках турне "The Wall Live" вышел  Дэвид Гилмор! Вот это был сюрприз! Роджер и Дэвид встали рядом и вместе спели "Comfortably Numb"! Кроме того, в исполнении песни "Outside the Wall" принял участие Ник Мейсон! Присутствовавшие зрители были вне себя от радости. Таким образом, вчера на сцене в очередной раз воссоединились все оставшиеся в живых участники классического состава Pink Floyd! На YouTube уже появились первые ролики, снятые из зала:

по поводу обвинения его в антисемитизме (даю без перевода):

      Dear Sir

     In a recent news item on Foxnews/online, subsequently abridged in The Evening Standard, Abraham Foxman, head of the ADL, (Anti Defamation League) in the USA , accuses my new production of The Wall and by implication me, of anti-Semitism.

     A serious charge that demands a response. Had Mr Foxman come to my show before passing judgement and commenting publicly he might, I hope, have held his peace, as there is no anti Semitism in The Wall Show. The song to which he refers, Good Bye Blue Sky, describes how ordinary people, military and civilians alike, suffer trauma in the aftermath of war.

    The visuals that accompany the song show waves of B52 bombers dropping various symbols from bomb bays on a war ravaged landscape. The symbols are: in no particular order, a Crucifix, a Hammer and Sickle, a Star of David, A Crescent and Star, a Mercedes sign , a Dollar sign, and a Shell Oil sign.

    Mr Foxman's concern was that potentially the juxtoposition of a Star of David and a Dollar sign might incite hatred of Jews. Contrary to Mr Foxman's assertion, there are no hidden meanings in the order or juxtaposition of these symbols.

    The point I am trying to make in the song is that the bombardment we are all subject to by conflicting religious, political, and economic ideologies only encourages us to turn against one another, and I mourn the concommitant loss of life.

     In so far as The Wall has a political message it is to seek to illuminate our condition, and find new ways to encourage peace and understanding, particularly in the Middle East .

     Incidentally, being from England, I had never heard of the ADL until today, but I have googled them and I see from their mission statement of 1913 that their brief is not only to defend the Jewish people from defamation, but also, and I quote, " to secure justice and fair treatment to all citizens alike and to put an end forever to unjust and unfair discrimination against and ridicule of any sect or body of citizens".

    Perhaps we should all focus on that lofty ideal and stop cowering in our corners throwing stones at one another.

    В ответ на открытое письмо Уотерса, опубликованное 4-го октября в онлайн-газете "The Independent", Фоксман разместил на ресурсе организации ADL свое открытое письмо, в котором уточнил претензии, предъявляемые к видеоряду композиции "Goodbye Blue Sky":

   «Мы тщательно рассмотрели видеомонтаж из Вашего шоу и понимаем, что видеоряд является антивоенным заявлением.
   Наша озабоченность связана всего лишь с порядком следования символики. То, что вслед за символами Звезды Давида немедленно появляются символы доллара, cоздает ассоциативную связь между евреями и деньгами. Демонстрация этих образов в таком порядке шокирует многих зрителей из числа тех, кому известен и неприятен старый стереотип еврейского стяжательства.
   Мы хотели бы просить Вас проявить сочувствие к тем, кто мог бы быть этим оскорблен, и изменить порядок следования символов так, чтобы знаки доллара появлялись в каком-либо другом месте шоу. Таким образом этот вопрос разрешился бы для нас полностью».

The man whose former band helped celebrate the fall of the Berlin Wall now wants to do the same for Israel’s West Bank wall.

Roger Waters, who co-wrote Pink Floyd’s landmark The Wall album, promised during a visit to a Palestinian refugee camp on Tuesday that he would perform a concert on the spot if the barrier came down.

Taking exception to Israel’s reasoning that the wall was built as a defense against Palestinian militants, the 65-year old classic rock and roll musician said that he hoped “this thing, this awful thing, is destroyed soon.”

A day earlier, Waters spoke to students in the Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem, warning, “I am not of the Bono school, who goes around the world being nice to everyone. When I have bad words to say I say them.”

Accordingly, in the same speech he characterized the West Bank security barrier “an obscenity for other people in the world. It looks OK to Jews here and maybe in other places where they live, but people around the world see it as a weird way to live.”

Israeli officials contend that terror attacks have dropped significantly since its construction.
