Hello to my two new friends, Igor and Roman,
I am Nancy Brower and my husband Richard Brower will be hosting you in our house next week. I am the President of the Friendship Force Club of Missouri — St. Louis . This is my second year as President. Before me Bob Hoffmann was President for two years and I did the Russian Open World Program. This is our 6th year doing the program and each year it is greater. Since I am 60 years old and my husband is 62 years old you can adopt us as your new American Mom and Dad. We have 4 children all living nearby in the suburbs of St. Louis County . They are Melissa age 39, Beronica age 37, Richard John age 34, and Rebecca age 30. They all have children—Phillip Brower age 10, Ciara Chang age 8, Emily Tobar age 6, Naomy Chang age 6, Chandler Brower age 4, and Christopher Tobar age 3.
We have a crowd on holidays when we all get together. One daughter, Beronica is from the Dominican Republic in the West Indies and she is married to a Chinese man from Guatemala in Central America . They are both United States citizens. Another daughter, Rebecca is married to a man from Guatemala , Central America and he is now an American citizen. Her husband Francisco went to Junior College on scholarship in St. Louis . Our son Richard is married to an American Negro whose family lives in Chicago . So you can see we have a multi-cultural family. We live in a suburb of St. Louis called Black Jack but we are a small city with our own Mayor. Our mailing address is Florissant which is a much bigger city in the suburbs. Black Jack does not have its own post office.
Our home is middle class and has a large yard, a front porch, living room, dining room, large kitchen with an eating area, a family room with TV, a master bedroom for us, a bathroom, and a computer office all on the first level. Upstairs we have three bedrooms and a bathroom with a tub and shower to share. There is a TV in only one upstairs bedroom. We also have a full basement with a walk out sliding glass door to the back yard. There is an area for the washer and dryer.
We have started working on the basement to make a larger room for when the family gets together for the holidays. Our hobby since we retired from work is our yard. We grow mostly Hybrid Tea, Floribunda, Scrub, and miniature roses. We have added some other plants this year after we added a deck and white 6 foot privacy fence last summer. We have no pets and we do not smoke.
Bob Hoffmann has some good meetings set up during the week and we will have some time for sightseeing. We live very close to the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers and Alton , Illinois . We will have both weekends mostly free for sightseeing and for meeting our family or shopping. Have someone write down your shopping list if you have one and then it will be easier to know what kind of stores you will need.
We have been to Russia in the fall of 2003. It was a trip with another Friendship Force club and we helped out in the schools by working with the English teachers. Rich and I both enjoyed our visit. We had 3 days of touring St. Petersburg , one week for teaching in Moscow school and living with a family in an apartment, and then 2 weeks in Novgorod the Great with a divorced lady in her apartment. It was a great experience!
We are looking forward to your coming to visit us. Please let us know if there is anything I can do to make you comfortable.
In friendship, Richard and Nancy Brower
